Wasabi Mango UHD285 4k montitor

So I was looking at the korean monitors and found this thing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Perfect-Pixel-WASABI-MANGO-UHD285-REAL-4K-28-LED-3840x2160-DP-HDMI-UHD-Monitor-/111421820560?hash=item19f1420e90

Has anyone tried the wasabi mango monitors? How is the quality? Is it real?

4k monitor for 380usd sounds too good to be true.

EDIT: Also found this Crossover monitor, http://www.ebay.com/itm/CrossOver-288K-285K-Follow-Up-3840-x-2160-4K-UHD-LED-28-Monitor-Remote/321851472250?_trksid=p5411.c100167.m2940&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140131123730%26meid%3D90cd6b06aa294398bacd6c24096dc060%26pid%3D100167%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D111421820560

EDIT2: or http://www.ebay.com/itm/QNIX-UHD2800-REAL-4K-UHD-28-3840x2160-Displayport-Mini-DP-DVI-HDMI-PC-Monitor/111646307181?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33490%26meid%3D616135d9cb204a5eaebf7e07fe2e5ddf%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D221712665146&rt=nc

How are these? I am itching to get a 4k monitor tongue.gif

Will any of these overclock?
What panel types are they using?
Are the glossy ones actually glossy, or just tempered glass over matte?
Do they have PWM dimming?
Is there Which ones have an OSD, or do they simply have two buttons to adjust brightness like the QNIX QX2710? (yay minimalism!)

Here's the Crossover 288k without a remote for $300 instead of $380:

I don't think any 4k panels overclock. Not enough bandwith for that... not even on DP i don't think.

I don't think any 4k panels overclock. Not enough bandwidth for that... not even on DP i don't think.
But.. but.... ;_;

frown.gif When is the next version of DisplayPort coming out?

EDIT: Wait a second, DP 1.3 can handle 8k at 60Hz, so it can handle 4k at 120Hz. If these have DP 1.3 and bypass boards technically they should be able to overclock. I can't find any information on what version of displayport these have though.

The Crossover 404K(44K Follow-Up) UHD LED 40" 3840x2160 4K VA Monitor has DP 1.3! This means some do have it. What a nice monitor if not a little large. Something like this at 30-34" would be much better. They should cut out the speakers and OSD to lower cost. Something like this at 32" for $400 or less would destroy everything else.

They all use TN panels which have worse colours and bad viewing angles compared to the 21.5-27" IPS/PLS and VA panels available for less than half the price. 4k monitors under 32" are a gimmick since is very text is tiny and most of the extra real-estate 4k can offer is lost once text is increased to legible sizes. 4k is also a gimmick for gaming since 60hz LCD sample and hold blur prevents a 4k monitor from offering clearer motion (read this). The matte coatings these use further prevents 4k from being useful since the plastic coating reduces colour vibrancy and clarity. A glossy 21.5" IPS will easily best a matte 28" 4k TN panel in terms of clarity, colour vibrancy and viewing angles.

Wasabi Mango likes to sell monitors without proper brightness controls (read this) in order to save money, so choose the Crossover or Qnix if desperate to waste money on gimmicky monitors. Keep in mind that even most of the name brand 4k TN panels have high input lag aside from the ones made by Asus and iiyama, so it's likely that some of the Korean versions do too.

Yea I figured it would be like this. The matte on the QNIX isn't nearly as bad as most matte though.

So is there anything out yet that meets these specs? I forgot to mention 10-bit too.

Oh! I haven't been on OCN for a while.. Updated my rig.
I currently have AMD 280x.

I do game and I might also upgrade to some intel i5 and add another 280x or get a single faster card later in the future. But most of the time I just code / read / watch movies on my pc.

But how will the monitors compare with my cheapo 23.6" AOC E2461FWH are they worth it or the cons that come with these monitors nullify all the benefits I get from 4k?
From your responses, I seem to think that it's not worth it to get the Korean UHD monitor.
Here in Estonia I can't find any UHD monitor under 400€ (~450usd). Cheapest being AOC 28" LCD U2868PQU.

Honestly, 4k is not ready yet. Give it another year and we might start seeing things that TRULY rival the QNIX QX2710, but until then the QNIX is your best choice. I think you can get it true glossy for $220 now ($100 less than I paid for it a year ago). It's a 1440p 27" IPS panel "rejected" by Samsung. But it's better than Samsung's because it has no OSD garbage to stop it from overclocking to 96Hz and beyond (and OSD's are just plain annoying anyway). Not to mention the price tag for adding the name Samsung on to anything is absolutely insane.

About those 40" 4k VA panels though... they have DP 1.3... the only real issue I have with them is well... they're 40"!!! It's just too big. I'd need a new desk. Hell I'd need a new room! In my 10x10 room I couldn't sit far enough back to use it. That and the PPI is only 110 vs QNIX's 108. A real bummer we still can't get closer to "retina"...
BUT Say size wasn't an issue. Say this was 34". Would it be the next QNIX? Is there anything really wrong with it? It honestly looks pretty freaking amazing. VA panel. I never thought I'd be able to actually BUY that tech. That has better blacks and contrast than IPS right?
