Cool Tool CLI

I came across an interesting little cli tool for system info that seems to have really good support in that it is readily available, a no-brainer to install on even "testing" systems, and growing in scope all the time. Here's a sample of it and it is available here >>> SCREENFETCH

Hope somebody likes it too.

This is the info in text

We've known about screenfetch for ages tongue.gif

It's almost always in the "show" thread and all over the unixporn ( screenshot ) scene.

I even wrote one of the forks that also took a screenshot with it too, before that feature got integrated into the main one.

Weird. I joined OCN in 2008 and apparently somehow missed it.... maybe 'twas during my 2 year hiatus. I'm not sure who "we" is but it's way cool that you have contributed. If you happened to follow that link you will see that post is either from or just updated in January of 2015, so it is still new to some, including me.

So, come on! This thread can be specific to screenfetch. Whether text or screenshot, or both..... Show Yours! biggrin.gif

Like I said, it's been apart of the unixporn community for ages.

www.reddit.com/r/unixporn
www.nixers.net ( formally UnixHub ) https://nixers.net/showthread.php?tid=26 ( Screenshot Thread )
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=203299 ( Monthly Archlinux Screenshot thread, though it's not just Archlinux users that post there )

Even our own "Show your Linux" thread here has seen Screenfetch, Archey/Archey3 and the other variations quite often tongue.gif

Yeah you're conky is basic. So what? It is not cluttered nor garish. Your desktop is clean, neat, readable, and attractive hardly the sign of a noob. Apparently you migrated to Arch because it was time. Good job.

Thanks! It was time. I needed the change. I really like the keep it simple stupid philosophy.

Actually one of the reasons I decided to make a dedicated thread (besides the fact that a diversity of threads on specific subjects has the possibility of winding up in search engine hits bringing new people to OCN) is that I think it is important for people to not become lazy slaves to repositories and experience some command line ways to install simple and up-to-date applications. Also the fact that "Show Your Linux" participants sometimes include a shot with screenfetch in it doesn't make it clear to everyone what it is and how anyone can get it. Most repositories have so many entries that something as casual as this is easily overlooked.
