No, it's because Nvidia counterparts perform exceptional in the period they are bought in. People want awesome performance right now. There's no guarantee's for the future.

It's quite obvious which strategy works wink.gif

well yes but Nvidia has a nasty habit of as soon as they release new cards they abandon the previous cards. This gives a Nvidia user less lifespan both shortterm and longterm because Nvidia releases cards I swear almost every 6 months to 1yr. This is not a good thing for a consumer buying for a 2-3yr or more investment look at the recent gameworks fiasco and such a few keplar lineups were only a few months old one was only 6 months old when they abandoned it another was only 8 months old but I digress.

I am referring to Titan black and Titan Z Nvidia abandoned them while they were still in theyre crib sleeping shortly after they got out of hospital from being born and many owners were very upset along with alot of GTX 780 TI owners.

Forget 290X since that was $550 but look at $400 R9 290 going up against GTX780 Ti $700. That is pretty crazy. I can easily see Fury X beat GTX980 Ti @ 1080p/1440p in the future games under DX12 once Pascal is out.

I see where you're coming from. I mean, we all value things differently. However I can honestly say that when I bought my OG Titans, they lasted 2+ years and remained the top dogs on the market. I know I know, $1000 per GPU is insanity, but it took AMD forever to beat them with the 290x. I saw some of my friends upgrade 2x spending about $1000 in the process, to eventually match my cards... 2 years later. I sold my Titans for $800 each... and bought 2 980's. Sold those off once the Titan X was revealed and here I am with them. Now I'm good until the Pascal refresh comes (full Pascal) and then I'll see where things are at, and what's happening with AMD.

I'm kinda scared of the future though with the Canadian dollar being what it is... I mean, Titan X's are going for $1800 a piece right now. wackosmiley.gif

I honestly believe that it's bottlenecked to hell and back and AMD did it on purpose to sell a 8gb Fury X closer to Arctic Islands release.

No idea Nvidia abandoned that a few years back and I bet game / ENGINE dev's won't be giving it any love either same as they did with witcher 3 / GTA V / far cry 4 and so on the GTX 680 has been EOS for a while now the reason I say this is Nvidia abandoned GTX 700 series when they released 900 series and witcher 3 and many other games are proof of this got to love nvidia gameworks they neglected them on purpose to sell more of theyre current gen even though a few of the keplar lineup were not even 1yr old again 1 was 8 months old other 6 months old.

I will say this though AMD is openly supporting 4-5 gens back in hardware still till this day the HD 5000 series is still getting love and even HD 6000 series but mainly the GCN lineup AKA HD 7000 / 200 and 300 series oh and fury lineup are really getting the love but even old hardware from 5 gens ago are getting love on AMD side by both AMD and game / ENGINE DEV's .
