Thoughts on Upgrade

Thread Starter
Right,
Well i'm currently running an i5 2500k @ 4.8ghz
on an Asus sabertooth
with an MSI Twin Frozr iii 6950 with unlocked shaders
with 8gb of ram
2 samsung ssd's, one for windows and one for games.

I've been thinking of upgrading for a while now but can never seem to justify it.
still thinking of it at the moment but not sure.
i could go ahead and get a new board and chip (the new skylake one) or do i just put a little more money into my current rig and upgrade my GPU and maybe get some more ram.
Thoughts anyone?
hopefully good...

If gaming, you chip at that overclock should still be tearing through any game out there. I'd definitely look into upgrading to a newer card from AMD (r9 390 / 290) or from Nvidia (gtx 970) that should be decent ways better than your current setup. What resolution do you run and what other uses do you have for the system ? Did you decide on any $$ value you'd be looking to spend in either event ?

Not decided on how much I want to spend yet, depends on what I can be convinced to do lol.
Only running at 1080.
Main uses are gaming and some video editing.

Absolute bank for your buck at that resolution would come from AMD (used 290/x or 390) or Nvidia (970 or 780/ti used). Should provide you enough to last a year until AMD & Intel come out with Zen & Kaby lake on the platform front and AMD & Nvidia come out with next gen Arctic Islands and Pascal GPU's and then you can have an entire platform upgrade. Thats what I plan to do with my 1155 rig
