Can't get more direct interface than that!

Sounds like an ideal solution, as long as the microfluid doesn't slowly wear off the chip... Then again, avoiding that is probably part of the microfluid design.

Obviously, as the heat carrier coolant is linked in series and not in parallels with the integrated heat sink and the cooler's cold plate.
The finesse of water is there is no higher physical heat flux carrier, afaik. The solution will also benefit from a high flow rate due to a physical phenomenon - capillary action. Outside of laser cooling and other new phenomenal solutions, this could be the quintessential cooling solution.

These two arguments is ultimately what it will come down to. Maybe microfluid will prove true in that it takes 5-7+ years or something to wear it down enough to damage it, or maybe this whole thing goes belly up. If there is money to be made, I am sure they will look into it none the less.

I coulda swore I read about this in Scientific America or something like that about....10-15 years ago. Glad to see a working model. Now hopefully it can be implemented sooner than it took to develop.
