Hori EDGE 101 Optical Gaming Mouse - Page 15

After going back to my AM, trying out my Edge again because I was missing rails on Reflex due to click latency, then back to the AM...The Edge is way too heavy to be comfortable, I get really fatigued from it compared to my AM. I just can't see anything going for it honestly, besides the custom microswitches which broke really quickly.

I wouldn't be surprised those HORI PROPRIETARY ULTRA LOW 40% FASTER SWITCH ACTIVATION switches are just rebrands.

Especially at this point where multiple people have complained about double clicks.

Well, I went YOLO and just picked the mouse up anyway. And my first impressions are, honestly, not that bad.

Some of the complaints are true. The mouse is a tiny bit heavier (even without the weight) than other mice, like my FK1 and G303. The scroll wheel isn't as tactile as the scroll from something like the G303. But to me, they're not deal breakers at all.

As far as the good things go, the side buttons aren't stiff at all (at least to me). The main right and left buttons feel great, and I personally LOVE the shape. It's the perfect size for me. The firmware update, and the software ran without a hitch on Windows 10.

Time will tell how it goes. My biggest concern was the reports of double-clicking, but only time will tell if I get the same problem. I've only read two people reporting the problem here, and there wasn't anybody who responded when I asked about it in the Amazon reviews, so I figure it was a gamble worth taking. I'll definitely report back if I get any issues, but hopefully not!

The sidebuttons aren't stiff, but they have a lot of pretravel, as the button stem is quite a long lever. Basically same stuff as in the Zowie EC series. To say the least they are mushy.

The main switches have a weirdly shaped spring. They have a kink in spring. Whereas other switches have a perfectly round shaped spring. Thus the kink causing the spring to deform easily and permanently.
Hori left, Omron D2FC right (I highlighted the spring)

Yea... I see what you're saying about the kink. It's reminding of the bending of a paper clip, where once it's bent, that point where it's bent is basically permanently weaker.

We'll see. I'm not willing to give it up, because I like the shape of the mouse so much, that I feel it's worth the gamble.

As far as the side button goes, yea, it's not super snappy, but I wouldn't call it "mushy" either. I have the G303, FK1, and Mionix Avior, and I don't feel the side-buttons on the Edge 101 are all that terrible. But, these are all personal opinions, of course.

Still no doubleclicking issues here. Then again I don't play csgo too often, but I do play Halo Online ED, so we'll see.
