Very high idle temps, random crashes

Thread Starter
Hey guys I am new to overclocking and just wanted to ask about why my cpu idle temps are so high. I bought a new water cooler a month ago (Deepcool Captain 120) and its running some pretty high temps.

I OC to 4.5 ghz and my min temps are 37-42 degrees and my max with prime 95 stress was 83-91 degrees in minutes!

I used the stock thermal paste when applying the water cooling.

I used to have random crashes, reboots and blue screens when I bought my new gpu and cpu cooling but it stopped now (i used to have gtx 670 and stock cooling that ran perfectly fine)

I searched google and it led me to believe that my PSU is failing or isnt enough watts, my CPU cooling is failing when i just bought it, or I need to reapply new thermal paste.

My setup is i5 3570k (4.5 ghz oc)

PSU is Corsair TX750M

Mobo is gigabyte motherboard z77x-ud3h

GPU is EVGA 980 ftw

8 gb of ram

Typically, high idle temps are from a poor thermal past application. I
d try replacing that first.
