Hey guys. I've been a long time lurker of the OC forums, and I can't believe this is my first post here. Anyway, for the past 4 years or so I've been an avid Deathadder user. My current mouse is a DA 2013, and I've been using it for about 2 years. Since I started gaming, my progression was something like Logitech MX510>Logitech MX518>Deathadder 3G->Deathadder 3.5G->Deathadder 4G(2013) and that's where I'm at now.

Games I'm currently playing: CS:GO - Battlefield 4 - League of Legends. I'm mainly an FPS player so sensor precision and accuracy is of utmost importance to me. I play 800 Dpi / 2.0 in-game CSGO sensitivity. My current DA 2013 is starting to wear out.. it still works fine but this mouse has never been my "favorite" of all the previous mice I used. In fact the only reason I got it was because my previous deathadders all developed the double-click fault.. and pretty much since then I've simply just gotten used to the 2013. I am a fan of optical over laser as are most gamers. Currently I am looking at several mice, but not being all that tech savvy with sensors.. the only thing I can go on is reading about what the best sensors usually are.. such as the 3310 and Logitech's 3366. Those options are kind of tailoring what mice I'm looking at purchasing.

The mice I've looked at:

Roccat Kone Pure Military
Steelseries Rival
Finalmouse 2015
Logitech G402 (Mainly because of it's shape, and was recommended by a friend)
Zowie FK2

One of the main reasons I'm looking at ditching my DA 2013 is because it's on the heavier side, and it has this kind of floaty feeling when tracking. My current mouse pad is a Razer Goliathus Control. My grip is a palm/finger-tip hybrid. I never claw. The weight reason is partly why you don't see the G502 on the list, even though it has the best sensor on the market for gaming, or so I'm told. I may be able to be convinced otherwise to get it, regardless of it's hefty weight based on the sensor alone. Basically, I need a mouse with zero acceleration what so ever. Or I should say not any NOTICEABLE acceleration. No smoothing. No angle snapping. None of it. I also need something with good switches, preferably good/positive side buttons. I'm leaning towards the Roccat because I do have smaller hands. Ideally the deathadder has been great for my grip-style.. and I realize the Roccat is smaller than a DA.. but it looks extremely well put together. I'm also looking into the FinalMouse because it's shape looks good to me, but I'm worried about build quality. I need a mouse that's capable of lasting at least a year of steady use.

Of the mouse listed, any help/technical info would be appreciated. Like I said, my main focus is good tracking, high malfunction speed since I do a lot of fast swipes, etc. no prediction, no acceleration. and durability. I'm interested in something with the 3310 sensor or possibly the 3366 if I can be convinced that the weight won't be an issue since I'm used to the DA 2013 already..

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just realized there is a thread for this, and this post should of went there. If my post could get moved there I'd greatly appreciate it. Sorry about that.

Are you sure that's your sensitivity? Because regardless of your mousing style, you don't need high PCS at that sens (appx. 26 cm/360, also equal to 400 CPI at 4.0). At that sens, I can't even make my IME 3.0/WMO malfunction at 125hz.

But on topic, basically it comes down to shape preference. The difference in the sensor performance between the mice you have listed is negligible. Some might have different sensor feeling even though all of them (except for G402) use the 3310, due to manufacturer implementations and whatnot. Many here think that the FM has the best sensor feel out of that list, followed by the KPM, and the rest are kind of up to debate.

In my opinion, even if one mouse might have a better implementation than another, it doesn't automatically make it better. Even though many here would argue that the Rival sensor feel is awful, and I feel that the FM sensor feels way way better (I currently own both, don't use either though), I still do much better with the Rival due to the shape. Like I said earlier, it all comes down to what your shape preference is.

Which of your previous mice was your favorite shape? if it was the MX510/MX518, then the FM should have a very familiar feeling to it. And don't worry about the build quality of it. Even though it only weights 74g, which many light mice do feel cheap, IMO it doesn't feel cheap at all (and the buttons are great). And most mice should last for quite some time unless you're slamming it against the table...

The mouse with the best sensor out of all the mice I own is the G502, however it's heavy and therefore I've used other mice. My goal is to extract the g502 sensor somehow soon. Anyway, save yourself the trouble and refrain from looking into the FinalMouse because the build quality is trash. They probably paid off people to say it's good, lol, and the sensor wasn't good either imo. That's from the unit I got, but I've read that others experienced similar issues.

The G402 is decent but I don't think the sensor is as good as the G502 personally, but I like the shape of the g402 more and it also weighs less.
The FK1 is a fantastic mouse both shape wise and the weight it has, it's just that the mouse buttons are extremely stiff. Good luck shooting semi autos at a constant fire rate with the stiff mouse buttons.

I don't like the rival, the sensor is just wierd imo.

Out of all the mice you've looked into I'd go with the Zowie FK2.

Edit: Take a look at the Mionix Castor. I've used it for some days now and I really like it, it has a premium feel to it and a great software to tune the mouse to your liking. It's worth looking into both the Castor and the FK2 imo.

My dream mouse is the Zowie FK1 with the G502 sensor and switches. It'd make gamers all over the world *** for a decade.

Ok, so I've narrowed down my list to these 2 options..

Roccat Kone Pure Military (Naval Storm, only decent looking scheme imo)

Steelseries rival. (If only I could find the rival 300 FADE CS:GO edition, I'd pay a premium just to have one in my collection)

Basically in that order. I've decided not to go with the Zowie this go around, but if I have a problem with either of those two/decide to return it, the FK2 will most likely be my purchase. As far as the finalmouse... even though the shape looks like it'd be very comfortable for me.. I just can't feel confident in purchasing it with the very mixed reviews it's getting. I need a mouse that will LAST up to a year. The KPM is first on my list because from what I've seen on the forums, the general consensus is it's a great mouse with solid software. Part of the reason I've decided to ditch my DA 2013 is synapse. I hate it and it made me furious when I realized it was synapse only (no legacy driver support). The rival is an option but I'm concerned about the "reported" wacky feeling sensor and dpi bugs associated with it, and the rubber side panels burning off within a short period of use (ie: less than 6 months). Another one of my main gripes with the DA 2013 is the rubber panels get worn down very quickly, and become slippery/greasy feeling... and that is with me having washed my hands prior to using it almost every time. For the first couple months it was great though.

Personally I think either of these mice will fit my hand. The KPM gets the edge because it's lighter, and has more customization it seems like... and the side buttons protrude more from the shell which is something I like. If you've ever used a deathadder, you know that the side buttons stick out a fair bit and are very easy to find with your thumb. I utilize the side buttons in every game I play, including cs:go for things like quick switching/weapon drop, etc. Also, to answer your question --- yes my dpi is 800, ingame sens is 2.0(but I may go lower in the future if I decide to AWP more). Based on pictures, the side buttons of the rival look almost flush with the shell, and without being able to feel it in my hand prior to purchase, I'm just not sure if I could get used to them after using the DA and it's side buttons for the past 3-4 years...but as I said, the rival is still an option. I think the rival looks more aesthetically pleasing, but that's a very small factor in regards to my purchase choice.

If anyone with a rival could chime in on the side buttons/their ease of use -- I'd love to hear about it. I will be ordering from amazon today... it's simply time for a change, and I've grown tired of the DA 2013's smoothing. My current mouse pad is a Razer Goliathus control, which I think should be just fine with either but I may be changing to a QCK+, QPAD or PureTrak in the future.

I've also looked into a G303 from logitech because of it's simplicity and awesome sensor choice... but it's such a departure from what I'm used to (longer, more ergo shaped mice) that I'm not sure I could adjust. Now, if the G402 incorporated a 3366, was about 10-20G lighter, I'd be jumping out of my shoes trying to get one. That would be a dream mouse for me. Simplistic. Great shape. Great sensor. If I was sure I could get used to the added weight, I'd be going with the G502 now.. but I really don't like the "sniper button" placement. I have small hands, but long fingers. I love Logitech products.. I have a G930, and a G27 racing wheel that I use the crap out of.. but I'm not a huge fan of the direction they've taken their mice shapes. If they released a MX518 shape, with the G502's scroll wheel, and the g502's sensor.. it'd rule the gaming mouse market imo.

I'm not a fan of the rivals side buttons, but they're easy to access. Also, they're very soft and easily get stuck from what I've experienced. If you want to see screenshots of the side buttons compared to other mice then let me know. I don't have the Roccat Kone presently though, but I have most of the other popular ones you looked at, such as the ones you mentioned in your first post.

Edit: (SS Rival). Forgot to mention that the LMB and the RMB when pressed together touch each other on the unit I have, but I've read that it might have been fixed.

Good luck.

Ok, so that pretty much rules out the rival based on your observations. Not a fan of soft side buttons. Firm/Tactile side switches are a must for me. The KPM looks like it'll fit that criteria more, plus doesn't have rubber sides which can get gunked up. Thanks.

Ok, after careful deliberation and some more research, I've went with a mouse that wasn't even on my initial list. I just ordered a Zowie EC2-A. I've always heard great things about the zowie FK series from friends but I had never given them a shot and I figured this could be the right time to do so. I didn't go with the FK because I've been so use to an ergo shaped(DA) mouse that the EC series made more sense.. and I went with the EC2-A because I have small'ish hands. It's got the 3310 sensor. It's not over-the-top with flashing lights or rubber all over the place. I love simplicity. This mouse seems to fit that bill perfectly. Will try it out when I get it, and if it's too small for me to get used to over the DA, I will probably send it back and get the EC1-A instead. I did heavily consider the FK but in the end I went with this. I've heard the EC series didn't have the click latency issues(although this seems to be fixed with newer FK batches), and I prefer the ergo shape as I said.

Complete 180 based on what I was looking at yesterday. I wasn't considering Zowie and when I finally started digging deeper into their catalog, stuff besides the FK series, the EC series immediately caught my eye. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I don't need the customization of other mice, and I've always set my DA2013 around 1.5-2MM of LOD in synapse, so the zowie should be easy to adjust to. I never play on higher than 800 dpi for CSGO, and for other faster paced games, I think 1600 over the 1800 I used on the DA should be fine... but most likely I'd keep it at 800 anyway. It should work with my current goliathus pad, don't see why it wouldn't so for me this made the most sense.

The only thing I am slightly worried about is the mouse-skates wearing quickly/being kind of thin. Zowie provides a spare set so that's a bonus, and I will most likely pick up some aftermarket ones anyhow. I much prefer the style of skate over the DA's small triangular shaped ones. I've always felt like my DA2013 didn't glide as much as I'd like it to. In retrospect I probably should of went with a goliathus speed over control, but I bought it because my play-style has always been about precision over raw speed/flicks so it made sense at the time. Soon as I get a bigger desk, which I'm in the process of building/sourcing the material... will be going with something extended/XL anyway.

Will do for sure. I've seen side by side comparisons of the DA and the EC1-A and they're virtually identical in size.. but I've always considered the DA just a touch bigger than I'd like... so as I said that was what made me decide on the ec2 instead. Hoping for the best.
