I wouldn't do it if your current setup meets your needs. Wait until Intel releases an 8-core $500-$600 chip (e.g. what 3930k, 4930k, 5930k are for 6-cores) and then upgrade to it. This would be a more impactful upgrade given your video editing uses.

like from what i saw my cpu can hold up to a 5930k with the oc i have im not that far..the best would be basicly to wait for the next intel i7 and see if there's a big gap also the 5930k have been out for quitte sometime.anyway thanks for the reply

No problem man! I'm sure there will be some exciting releases with skylake-E, fingers crossed that they have an 8-core 6930k

Nah, you would feel crappy if you bought an i7-5930k. The depreciation amount on your i7-5820k won't be bad at all, and I'm sure you can get a decent return on it selling it secondhand to fund your "7930k 8-core" purchase. I highly doubt an i7-5820k will go below $200 in the next 2+ years.

Not worth it at this point. If you are looking to get more performance then put in another 980Ti Lightning.

For the Sandy-E and Ivy-E series it was tough to me to look beyond the 3930K/4930K so I got one of each. For Haswell-E there was a real benefit to the extreme series processors so I picked up a couple of them. If the next batch are 8 core for 7930K and 7960X then I will pick up the 7930K. Probably give the 3930K based system to my nephew.

My 3930K runs like a champ at 4.8GHz.
