Cpu Cooler for i7 4790k - Page 3

One thing you might want to do with the Rev B, is convert it to a Rev C. This requires a new mounting bar -- with sockets in it -- and two low-profile screws. This allows you to use a 140mm fan. I wrote to Prolimatech and got the Rev C. stuff directly from them. It might be worth a shot.

HAF stands for "High Air Flow." It's a conceit by Cooler Master about this line of cases. So one would expect the air to move freely in such a beast.

Actually, doyll, should we tell him about the rear grill trick?

PS -- see item 2 in my sig about what a pull fan can do on a Megahalems. Bernoulli lives.

ok just a little update. played mad max for many hours, thats what my temps looked like at the end.
I think the 71 C peak was yesterday when i tried streaming with OBS so that might explain it. i am pretty sure i can get lower temps on the cpu, but the gpu maxed at 71C . hmmm

Those temps are well within comfortable range, especially for the CPU.

GPU temps for your 390 is alright too. Nothing to be worried about. But if you want it to be lower, you can just set a more aggressive fan curve to your desired temps to fan noise ratio.

As said, temps are fine, thumb.gif

As for cooler it depends on mobo, RAM height and case CPU clearance.

Just being old doesn't mean much. Some coolers 7 and 8 years old are as good and sometimes better than similar newer designed coolers. NH-D14, Megahalems, TRUE Spirit 140, TRUE Ultra, HR-02, Silver Arrow, etc. are still in the top of their groups.

I told you what I needed to know before I recommend coolers.
You give me what components you have,
Give me the measurements I r3equested, because if you do not, you are expecting me to search and find find them while you play games, watch a movie or have your girlfriend over .. not going to happen in this lifetime. poke.gif
Because I want to spend time with my wife, watch a movie and have a nice dinner with friends. biggrin.gif

ok just a little update. i ended up changing the position of the tower like in the picture. before that, the table was all the way to the left against the wall, and the top exhaust fan was blocked by the table and i kept feeling hot air coming out towards me. with the new setup i am getting slightly better temps, not so much on the gpu end though.
