don't go cheap liquid, get noctua/cryorig coolers, they are more quiet and won't leak.

as for 1366 platform, as long as you're not trying to run modern games you're good, but if you are then i suggest getting one of these 6 core 32nm xeon for 70 bucks off ebay. they can hit 4ghz with 1.25v easy.

I overclocked the i7 920 before, i could do 3.8ghz with 1.35 vcore, but the motherboard i had was crap (msi x58 pro-e), now i have a rampage 2 gene with a xeon x5650, it runs at 4.2ghz 1.272 vcore, totally recommended, and a very solid update for 65-75 us dollars

Unless the OP plays multi-player games where every fps matters... the quad-core Boomfields are still quit potent. Especially when oced to 4 GHz+. I know for a fact that I switched from an i7 870 to 5820k and the difference was mediocre at best in modern games, only in very specific scenarios there was a worthy performance gap and that was with a 980 Ti. The 930 even at 3.7 GHz won't bottleneck that GTX 660 in 95% of cases at 1080p.

i disagree, the reason why i went from i7 920 to 6 core xeon was because the huge bottleneck i noticed from games like battlefield 4 and watchdog, i know the cpu was the bottleneck cause with a xeon and a gtx 660 the fps stayed around 40-60fps as compare to 920's 20-40 fps. the first gen i7 is definitely showing its age in newer games and more core orientated games.

I don't have BF4, but played watch dogs with 780 Ti and 870 @ 4 GHz but never dropped to 20 fps with that configuration, GPU usage was around 75-99% most of the time, but that with a card that is more than two times faster than a GTX 660.

the 780 ti was making up for the cpu difference in your case, if you pair that cpu with a gtx 660 its bottleneck insured.

Well, gave another try and changed setup, moved to a more stable x21 multiplier ( didn't know that damn! tongue.gif ) so i pushed up a little more to 4.05GHz final. Same temps and vcore ( 1.275v ) as 3.71GHz with x22 multi. I can switch to an "holiday setup" going back to 3.71GHz with x21 multi and just 1.1625 vcore, something less maybe.. temps are crazy low, same as stock biggrin.gif (in fact it has 1.6v vcore on stock auto)

I will buy a new monitor ( still 1080p ) and a new vga ( xfx r9 390 8gb black ed. ) as soon as i can afford them and i'm thinking about buying a new dissi also, but i want to sell mine first.

Any bottleneck here?

You'll probably see a slight bottleneck with the 390 and the 930, I think that grabbing a cheap/used 290 would be a lot better for you as it's essentially the same card yet half the vRAM and slightly slower out of the box.. Most 290's can match a 390 in sheer core speed with a drop of voltage added while being substantially cheaper.

I'm still on two 1080p monitors and run a 290 watercooled/overclocked... GTA V wouldn't run anywhere near as good without it. Wish I could go 1440p but it's too much, especially when 4k monitors will be cheaper then them real soon and more of a "Standard".

I got some troubles with the temperature software.. i used to use RealTemp but i found it takes too low temps, so i switched to RealTempGT that was ok, but suddenly during a test it decreased by 10°C and now it's showing weird temps. I always used hwmonitor as well parallel to realtemp, and it has different temps to both realtemp and realtemp gt.

Which should i go for?

Go into the RealTemp Settings or Options window and click on the Defaults button. This will read the correct value for TJ Max from your CPU. Do not change TJ Max in RealTemp or you will screw up the temperatures it reports. Adjustable TJ Max was a useful feature for the older Core 2 Duo CPUs but is not necessary for any of the Core i CPUs.

After you do this, there should not be any significant difference between the 3 programs that you mentioned. If you are still having problems, post a screenshot of the 3 programs.
