Samsung SM951 NVME 256gb M2 AS-SSD benchmark issue. Z170-deluxe.

Am using an i7 6700k on Asus z170-deluxe. 16gb ddr4 3000mhz. Stable build of Windows 7 64, been using the build for a few weeks now.

I just got an NVME SM951 256gb delivered, want it for my windows 10 os drive, when I build it. I'd returned the AHCI version as was getting average random read/writes in Crystaldiskmark. I had to install the nvme driver from Microsoft before it would work on windows 7. So currently the SM951 is just an empty storage drive. The SM951 is installed in the M2 slot on the motherboard and is running at the correct pci-e speed etc as evidenced by the first two benchmarks.

The NVME version's crystaldiskmark 5.02 is below.

Atto 3.05 is below.

All looks great and as it should be.

When I run as-ssd benchmark tool, it takes forever and I get this.

What on earth is going on!? Was getting perfectly good speeds on the AHCI version using this tool. Why would this benchmark run so badly on write when all the others look good? If I run as-ssd on any of my other drives, it runs normally and shows correct speeds. Any ideas would be great - my first m2 device.

Hey, thanks for that. I'm on Windows 10 now, the same issue, but only with as-ssd. I also found a review on the sm951 that show the exact same results with as-ssd.

Figure it's not very long until the official Samsung nvme driver is out - once the 950 pro starts selling.

windows 10 with these drives works and benches fine with the nvme 951 with the driver that comes with windows 10.
