I wish thay had 95W Octacores when I built my gaming system, would definitely have purchased one... but that was almost 2 yrs ago!... anyway the more time passes now the less inclined I am to do this because apparently the much talked about 'Zen' will be here next year. Not long to go now imo.

I'd assume you would get at least 4.2
At about 1.325v on any fx CPU
and could posibly get 4.3 4.4 within 1.4V
post #25 of 47
I saw you have a fx 8320 now. I've had luck with all fx 8xxx cpu getting to 4.5 ghz

Fx 8350 + h80i + 990fxa-ud3p
Fx 8320 + 212+ + 970a-ud3
Fx 8310 + 212+ evo + 970a-ud3

On any FX CPU, but not on any motherboard. At 1.4 that Asrock will be boiling:

Actually haven't had a chance to do this, dual issue actually. Firstly Amazon sent a me an 8320e(it was a warehouse deal) that was not there. The cpu box was open, no cpu in box, they had colored the plastic protector silver where the cpu sits, the stock cpu cooler was in there but covered in some sort of thermal paste, and the base was actually partially corroded away. The box had scotch tape just to keep it together, and the condition on amazon was listed as "like new"........ So they were good to refund me my money but they don't have another and wouldn't even like match the price others were selling it for, so been watching them on ebay and stuff so I can afford the 8 core.

Oh wow sorry to hear that frown.gif If i see any cheap ones or any good deals I will let you know asap...

I personally would recommend you do not overclock on that board. You might get to 4 maybe 4.2GHz but anything more and you will be REALLY straining the phases on that poor board. Also don't expect wonders from the 212 either. Average overclocks top out at around 4.2GHz and the highest one I have seen reach around 4.4GHz.

Not any other micro boards around. I think the 212 will do fine now....5x delta 150+ cfm fans plus a bunch of 70 cfm as well probably be ok.

I should also state my last fastest cpu was an e8600 c2d....life circumstances have held me away for a long while. I am basically looking for faster than that....4.5ghz is not necessary for some benchmarking and playing diablo 3.
