Need advice 4k gaming rig ! 2500-3000$ budget - Page 5

Definitely go aftermarket. If you went reference SLI, the card on top of the other card will be blowing hot air on top of the bottom card, thereby increasing temperatures on the cards and inside the case. Go aftermarket cooling.

Yea so it seems i will be sticking to my original plan of 2x Asus Strix 980 Ti Cards in SLI, i did like the Zotac AMP extreme but was not the biggest fan of how they looked. Aswell as the clock speeds are rather close and i plan on overclocking my GPU a little bit more then what they are! With that being said do you think a 350D would suffocate the cards to much? I know it has a 140MM fan in front i was thinking of buying 2 Aftermarket 140MM fans for the front. I really do like small factor gaming rigs i could place on my desk but not if the temperatures will be to outrageous i figured the cards would move enough air in the case and the Closed Loop cooler would also keep them cool!

What?

If I had 3000 to blow on a 4k rig I'd choose the Lightning, will be much cooler than strix.

Why do you say that ? Looking at benchmarks it seems 2 best cards are the Zotac amp extreme and Asus strix 980 ti plus yellow is hard to fit into a case. What makes the Lightning so much better?

which benchmarks ?
why is yellow hard to fit into case ? according to this strix is awful and zotac is still 5 degrees hotter. I doubt you're gonna be disappointed by the Lightning, this is as good as it ever gets.

Very weird I'm not to sure, I haven't seen a chart like that the whole goal was a red and black theme. Since yellow is such an off color I would be willing to do green but since I will be using a nice case with a window it bums me out that the card is yellow I will have to do more research into the MSI card.... I know that the posiden is so low because of the liquid cooling if I am not mistaken.

Also what do you think about the Poseidon 980 ti? If i had 2 of those in SLI i think i could run them in a 350D question is ... What parts would be needed to convert my H240x into a GPU loop for both cards. And would it be difficult to bleed them before first time using?

you can paint the yellow parts red.
CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v80), default quality
if you're going for the red/black check out 980ti 6G Gaming, looks swell in sli with msi gaming sli bridge

you might also consider 980ti lightning sli paired with x99s mpower

But i feel like the 2 fans on the MSI card will not be at the range i will be needing cooling wise i really do prefer 3 fans, but i curious on the poseidon now seeing what i will need to convert my h240x but we shall see now i have to go watch reviews on the lightning and poseidon lol...
