Yeah guys, just look how nice it is that we get 4 more frames in 0,001 of the games out there. That will show them we truly are the place to game on unreleased games.

This is the most relevant post when it comes to NVidia and Ashes, and then Async Compute in general. It seems there is undocumented driver work recently to improve Async Compute.

I thought Nvidia was still doing work on their async compute drivers and it was still TBD Maxwell's capability and compatibility? That was last I remember hearing from the AotS devs. The thread tracking all that was closed.

edit: Are Nvidia cards still using an alternative code path (terminology may be wrong here)?

Also don't remember really hearing anything from Nvidia themselves after the Internet started looking into what Maxwell could/couldn't do re:async compute.

That would put fury-x ahead and 390 even further ahead then 970. We cant have that now can we

well id like to see benchmarks that are actually relevant. im not team red or green, but 4k is what matters now. and any points made with 1080p benchmarks nowadays really arent points at all.

its like taking a toyota matrix, and a ferrari and racing them without leaving first gear.

Considering they are getting between 40 and 75 FPS at 1080p, I'm not sure the 4K numbers would be very impressive. I'd rather see playable 1080p numbers than a 20 vs 18 FPS 4K showdown. Some 1440p numbers would be nice though.

For all intents and purposes though, they perform the same.

Still though, it's just one game of many, and the API and drivers are still in early days.

There's no doubt though that this brings AMD back to competitive form.

The DX11 to DX12 numbers don't lie.

DX11

DX12

Great work AMD thumb.gif

^^Ok... uhhhh bad job AMD for getting your DX12 performance up to par and going toe to toe with your competitor... rolleyes.gif

You can say it...and I've said it myself a few times, that it really shows just how much Nvidia's DX11 drivers are optimized over their AMD counter-parts (or in your words -how much AMD has sucked for the last year and a half)

However, the fact that they are virtually even or slightly ahead in DX12 titles with Nvidia not being so much ahead like they are in DX11 means that AMD HAS done good work in increasing the value of their cards.

I don't see how anyone could see this as anything other than great for AMD.

But of course to really change the tides, AMD can't just be as good, they have to be much better. So far that remains to be seen.

Being on par in one area and way behind in another isn't something to be applauded; they've proven that they don't care about driver CPU performance. It's been YEARS. It's been 1.5 year since it was a 1.5x gap but it was very significant before that time. It's too long, i have no trust in them to do stuff any more.
