For general home use, browsing, playing media files, email, writing and printing etc; most linux distros do the job well. The first setup is a bit harder and would take months for someone to adapt. Since I'm used to editing the registry and the command shell on every win install it didn't bother me much.

I would love to use Linux more just because its a change. When i can go download java and double click it to install, then i will. I do not like PPA's as most of the software is outdated and i do not want to have to command line anything to install a program. This is why i Like windows. Use GPedit to turn of automatic update and i use Startisback++ and its a great OS. I love linux for what we do at work with our equipment, but at home its a no go.

Hopefully Vulkan gets enough adoption to see a great majority of games surfacing on Linux... That would be a game changer for me.

"It seems that Microsoft is desperate to get laggards who are still running Windows 7 and Windows 8 onto Windows 10, but there's a fine line between being enthusiastic about a new operating system and behaving like you own every PC running Windows, and I think that in this case that line has been crossed."

dont they kindof own the software still?

i say they just fully stop supporting windows 7 and 8 and get the rest of the people to come over. thumb.gif

I reckon they have enabled "spyware" on Win10 due to pressure from US Fed gov and the NSA.... because Windows still the most popular OS in the world.

Glad I still have my OEM copy of Win7...rolleyes.gif

that seems a bit unreasonable...

I'm happy on windows 7, will not be upgrading any time soon.
I removed GWX from my main desktop, but havent removed it on my laptop, which is now being more aggressive about trying to get me to move to 10.

That sound issue was one of my issues. Of course that was in the Tech Preview stage and I don't have the standard Realtek drivers (Creative chip on board)
