It wasn't detected on Run either, it was detected as soon as I attempted to save the file after copy/paste from github.

Adding an exception for the file in MSSE fixed the problem, although when the .bat attempts to modify the hosts results in ACCESS IS DENIED errors. I heard some telemetry sites are hard-coded separate from hosts file and unable to be changed (I could be wrong).

Yea I mean it's unreasonable for anyone to be bothered by someone looking over their shoulder at what they do on the computer. /s

Seriously though I don't need Microsoft knowing what Anime I watch. I watched Panty & Stocking and I liked it.

Next holiday I am going to experiment with GPU passthrough. Day to day PC use I don't need Windows, Mint Cinnamon is perfect even for office work as I use LibreOffice anyway and this way I use Windows when I need it which is usually just for games.

Ever heard of heuristics? MSSE is doing its job just fine. Any other half decent AV will flag this as well unless/until it has been manually flagged as safe by someone. The only thing you could possibly blame MSSE for here is that no one at Microsoft has gone out of their way to flag a third party utility that breaks Microsoft's products as being safe (and why should they?)

Yep, it most certainly has. I have yet another reason to keep Windows Update completely disabled. Or if I enable it, then don't install ANY updates that were released on or after September 15th:

"I've come across unconfirmed reports that using System Restore to take the system back to a point before September 15 will get people out of the jam, although the fly in the ointment here is that Windows 8.1 no longer generates automatic restore points by default, and they can only be created manually."

This whole thing with Windows 10 just keeps getting more and more entertaining. heh

annoying when grandmas apps and desktop web links stop working and everything looks different and you to roll backs.

Now if only I could remove the upgrade icon from my screen until Lenovo gets off their butt and provides MS the drivers.
