Good luck convincing others to do the same.

I have a 7950, and it's way more than what I need for the time being, so yeah, I can't buy a new GPU just to help them out.

Now that being said, if their next CPU generation can pull an Athlon and blow the doors off the Skylake or even the Devil's Canyon product line, then I might just think about moving back to AMD for my next major upgrade.

Just focus on GPUs and its embedded which will be good.
Exactly, their gpu's are very competitive. if their budget was concentrated on just gpu's, they would be a much more profitable company..I would buy their gpu's, their processors, I pass...

Yeah, launching a product like Bulldozer kinda does that to the reputation of a company...

Big hype followed by MAJOR disappointment.

Just a couple months ago I remember you starting a thread trumpeting that you were buying a Crosshair 5 Formula Z and a 9590 to hold you over to ZEN. So now you had a sudden epiphany and AMD sucks and Intel is the greatest?
Well, I've heard on other OCN threads that K12 has been taped out, so I assume this means we'll start to see tests of prototypes over the next few weeks and months. Hopefully they take the time to work out any bugs at the early stages before they commit to a major production run.

My expectations will be pretty modest.

It looks like a 9590 can trade blows with a 4770K, but in order to do so, it has to have twice the nominal TDP and liquid-based cooling (e.g. Corsair H55 etc) is apparently mandatory to keep the CPU running well even at stock.

So basically if AMD can deliver, let's say, 20-30% more performance over a 9590 for a nominal TDP of 90-110W, and at a price comparable with the 9590 today (~$300 Canadian at NCIX), I might just be persuaded to switch platforms rather than drop in a 4770K or a 5775C into this Z97 box of mine.

That being said the 5775C has a nominal TDP of 65W and apparently when overclocked can compare favorably with a 4770K, so .... decisions, decisions. Problem is it looks like the 5775C has basically been paper launched in Canada, since NCIX doesn't even have the part listed on their site yet, never mind whether or not it's back ordered.

I am not even worry about performance per watt at all.

but rather price/performance. This is something AMD hasnt been practicing lately in both CPU/GPU department.

I think we can all agree that Poopdozer and Poopdriver are the worst design move that AMD has ever made. They're where they're at today because of this split-sub-core garbage when they should have tweaked Phenom2 into a multithread system. Actual Athlon2 cores outperformed the splitcore products at same clock four years ago. Now they're calling the split stuff "Athlon2" like some kind of psychotic meth head is in charge of everything.

They need to can a whole f-ton of people for "failure in performance" to dump their contracts and get this split into in-house/out-house done as quickly as possible.

The company is making a billion dollars of revenue a year, find someone who knows which end of the axe to swing before Su rides it down like a failing Simbian.

They just sold their assembly facilities for 320M$ to a chinese mega company to raise cash so they can keep on living.
