Ignoring the whole "The United States isn't a Communist Country" argument ... please tell me what company WANTS x86 that Intel has denied a license to?

In case you haven't noticed, Intel has granted a ton of companies the x86 license over the years. So having the government "force" them is silly.

Are you also going to say that the US Government should just force AMD to give the x64 license to other companies too, or do you just want to screw over Intel and their intellectual property?

When an older AMD card gets caught up on drivers it becomes more relevent in performance matching or even competing with newly released cards.
It just proved that the same driver team are to be blame for under performing 7970 during launch & it took them 4 years to fix the issue and they are not completely fix yet the cpu overhead are still high.

The 7970 was AMDs best launch the past few generations. Drivers were actually quite good from the get go and really maxed out potential less then a year later. That was when the 680 came out 2 months later and really only matched the 7979 stride for stride at 1080 and under. Obviously having 3 more years to tube drivers is going to yeild a bit higher performance, that isn't a bad thibg and as more games came out, more optimizations are going to happen.

But what its really about is how a 3 1/2 year old car still hangs around pretty well.

7970 would've been sold far more if AMD could have it outperforming 680 right off the bat in BF3.

Battlefront otoh runs quite well on AMD cards and could be a good selling point for their Fury line.

R9 295X2 only 13% slower than GTX 980TI SLI.

R9 Nano as fast as GTX 980TI ... powered by single 8 pin connector.

Um... no? You mean the Fury X with a mild OC at 4K? The Nano suffers from throttling in air deprived situations (i.e. mini ITX).

Not at 1080P but at 4K yes.

basically Fury X is as fast as GTX 980Ti at 1450Mhz at 4K battlefront

Point? You can have proper airflow in ITX just as well.

Why would anyone OC his 650$ card? Yes just for benchmark, but for 24/7 people wont do that anyway. If you dont OC GPU it can last for a long time. But putting GTx 980Ti to 1400Mhz+ for 24/7 it may die in a year or two.

Basically I would prefer Fury X over GTx 980Ti for 1440P or higher resolutions. It runs cold, watter cooler and HBM... it will last and you will be able to sell it fast after 2 years.
