[EG] Nintendo now handing out NX console developer kits - report - Page 9

I think success for Nintendo needs to be in how quickly they offer solid games for their system. When a system only has a sprinkling of rock solid games a year, it makes it hard to want to play it. Nintendo doesn't need AAA titles to make it successful. It just needs a plethora of options for gamers. Spending years developing Zelda, Mario games, Starfox, etc does not keep your system relevant. Yes, having AAA titles wouldn't hurt but I think having more 3rd party dev support would soften the blow that comes from having to wait years for a new Zelda.

Graphically, I hope they meet or exceed the current gen but more then that, I want them to just have a library of content to consume. Oh, and proper online support would be nice too thumb.gif

edit: have Square Enix develop a Nintendo exclusive Final Fantasy that doesn't suck would also help sales. The only reason I am going to get a PS4 is for Final Fantasy 15 and 7 remake.

I think the price, launch line up and such will decide if it succeeds or bombs. Though i dont think it could bomb as hard as the WiiU so theres that.

http://wiiudaily.com/2014/03/nintendo-not-doomed/

Nintendo may go third party some day, but now that they're making money again (during the Wii-U lifespan, imagine that!) it's going to take a long, long... Ok it's never going to happen but even if every console they make from here on sells only as well as the Wii-U they're going to be running for another 40 years.

It's interesting that the Wii-U and 3DS were the first consoles Nintendo ever sold at a loss, and 2012 was the first time in company history that they didn't turn a profit.
I want a powerful console, but I seriously hope Nintendo never even remotely thinks of trying to release hardware at a loss again.

My opinion on third party support is still that Nintendo is their worst enemy when it comes to that. Despite their best efforts, Sony and Microsoft have yet to create the kind of fanatical following that Mario has (meaning the market is open for IP's from third parties), and everyone knows that people buy Nintendo hardware for Nintendo games. Not to mention apparently the Wii-U launch was internally a gigantic mess and it was difficult just to make a product for it at launch (thus the massive post-launch update).
Really the way it was handled Nintendo deserved to see the Wii-U fail. If the NX is at least developed properly and given to third parties in a respectable form and in a timely manner (which is hopefully what the subject of this thread indicates), then people should at least be able to release their product on it.

As long as 3rd party games are not the ones we all ready have on other consoles it will sell. But if its old ports i don't think it will sell since most people have these games on other consoles already. But people like myself who buys consoles to play exclusive games on each console don't really care about multiplat games.

Lol. They are probably adding some new gimmicks that cant be done on a PS4 hardware spec. That's why they are calling it a leading chips or cutting edge chips. Who knows we might even see a holographic displays on the gamepad.

-And an important thing to remember, probably you know well already, is that chip specs won't be finalized until much closer date to the release.

N trying to squeeze out as much performance as possible till the last minute it seems. The line about the PC lost me though. We need more feedback for sure. Good find FlyingSolo.

*Why do you think N didnt show the demo publicly? Its not like M$/Sony will release a new console in the near future. It wouldve been so cool.

Because they want people to continue buying the Wii U and 3DS thumb.gif

If you announce something to early then there is still a lof of stuff subject to change, people will stop buying your other products, because they are waiting for the new fancy tech and they are going to be angry if the final product differs from what you presented.

Also tech demos are often misleading. Was there ever a game that looked as good as a tech demo and had all the physics in it? No biggrin.gif

Other than the fact that the Gamecube controller had its flaws, no left z button and no analog stick buttons. Along with the fact that the system used small DVDs, pretty much killing the console from getting multi-plat games. As well as no online system, and decided to follow sony in the use of memory cards. The System was still able to create a pretty cool game experience.

The Games are what made the Gamecube a great console to own, but the console itself was flawed. Lacking from many of the same problems that kept the N64 down. It had more power than the PS2, but with no full size DVD drive that meant nothing.

Yeah, no certain system, but there where two online games for the console. Boy, the amount of hours my Gamecube got from Phantasy Star Online ep.1&2. Think I clocked in over 5000+ hours on just that game alone. Got to give, Nintendo made those things like tanks. Mine still works and I still occasionally fire the bad boy up for some rounds of Super Smash Bros Melee or when I want to speed run normal mode in PSO. tongue.gif

Out of most consoles or game systems I have own. The Nintendo ones always win out on hours I played having fun on them. Well, Minecraft maybe come really close at times.

Though, I would love to see another Metroid Prime. Loved playing those on my Gamecube. That or a spiritual successor to Lost Kingdoms. *Stares at From Software*

I agree to an extent, but the first announcement (official or not) of the NX already doomed the WiiU imo. There is still starfox/zelda to stretch the life of the WiiU until NX, but is a 'dead man walking' as of now.

WiiU tech demo. Honestly, doesnt look too over the top.
