Upgrading from an i5-2400 to i5-4430: worth it?

Hi all,

I am building a mini ITX rig and was thinking of ditching my my i5-2400 and ASUS P8H77-I in favour of an i5-4430 and an ASRock H97M-ITX/ac. The total cost of the upgrade would be around $300-400.

Can anyone guide me as to whether this would be worthwhile and what advantages I can expect to see if I was to upgrade (namely in terms of gaming performance)?

The rig is for gaming and currently consists of a R9 380 4gb, 8 gig of Ram and a 240gb SSD.

Many thanks,

Not worth it to me.
edit: For $300-$400 you should be able to upgrade to a 4690k with a motherboard and a cooler so you can OC some. That would be worth it IMO.

Cheers for the response.

Are there any particular reasons you don't think it would be worth it? I have no idea how to gauge the performance difference between the two CPUs.

That would be a waste of money. You may need to go mid/high-end chip with low-end board for a good jump in performance. http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/414/Intel_Core_i5_i5-2400_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4430.html#bench

Not worth it. The 4430 is probably 5-15% faster than the 2400 but it doesn't matter because both of them are good for gaming.

True. If OP wants more frames, get a faster card.
