[PCGAMER] Valve admits Steam customer support is awful (again), but says it's working on it - Page 5

They had so draconian practices when it came to returns in the past and just passed off support to the developers usually that I can see why they don't have a huge customer support area. However with their size and position in the market they really need to increase the response times. 2 weeks is unacceptable, not to mention its two weeks to point you to the developer forums. They don't even try to help 90% of the time.

That's not really the point I was making. My point is that sugar coating the truth in this instance is silly. Steam, like Wal Mart sells crappy products. Getting defensive and denying it is stupid, this fact is true for most retailers and distributors.

You could argue consumer responsibility for TSG but you can't in the cases of AC:U and AK. They were released as broken products by big name devs.

There is thing called reviews? From multiple sources. Friends, family, coworkers, metacritic, youtubers like AngryJoe or CynicalBrit. The tools are there, claiming otherwise is just laziness and then blaming your laziness on the publisher/dev/who ever it is popular to hate on.

The whole cant really have consumer responsibility is fallacy.

AC:U had a review embargo past the release date. So did other titles.
You're not factoring in all the variables which leads to inaccurate conclusions.

I don't like that you're implying that I'm lazy when you couldn't be bothered to find out that AC:U had that embargo I just mentioned.

So Reviews weren't aloud after the release of the game either eh?

Maybe lazy isnt for you, impatient could be just another.

Embargo = suspect

Not sure why you would continue to dive in regardless

Yeah, okay, lets blame me for the failings of a company. Stay classy buddy. thumb.gif

FYI I never bought AC:U. Perhaps you need to go read a book or something, you're getting pretty rude at this point.
I never bought it either, and I have plenty of books that Im reading.

You believe the company should be at fault for offering a faulty product that cant be reviewed until after release. This isnt a new practice, nor is it incomprehensible. Simple psychology can steer you away from something like that.\

Oh hey AC:U is going to be released, any reviews? No? hmm thats odd, guess ill, I dunno, wait until I get some opinions from individuals I hold in confidence and see if it coincides with post embargo reviews.

The company will pay for holding a faulty product as it has to pay for space like any other platform.

I hardly stated that you purchased the game in question, you just happen to be the counter to my argument which when fails, fall onto snide remarks to deflect the fact that yes, consumers have the choice to either be complete idiots and believe what there told, or actually be an educated consumer.

Fancy that.

So instead of blaming a company for having dodgy practices you blame the consumer. Wonderful.
In the real world people like me vote with our wallets and don't buy their games, a vast majority of people, however are not aware of these kinds of practices.
You implied that I purchased the game, don't pretend you didn't. I don't know what crawled up your butt and died but next time you get this rude I'll just report you. There's a fine line between being aggressive and being rude. You're just being rude.

P.S. You sound like one of those awful apologists. I said it before and I'll say it again: stay classy. thumb.gif

You shouldnt rely on implications then, thats left to interpretation and obviously doesnt work around here.

Otherwise yes, its the people that empower these practices and its the people that will have to punish that practice. I would like to think that my fellow mankind are not all mindless consumers.

You want to solve an issue, attack the source. Bringing up the intermediary might possibly bring some level of awareness, but only on one company, not the practice as whole. Catering the issue, will do nothing.
