Schiit DAC/AMP Owner's Discussions

Do you have any Schiit products? Do you think they're good? Post here!

I have an Asgard ver 1 that I'm using with HIFIMan He400i's and it sounds great. My only complaint is that its a tad bright and I have read other people complaining of this online as well. Overall though a very nice sounding amp. I like it quite a bit.

What Schiit products do you have and what kind of headphones are you using it with?

Especially interested to hear from owners of the high end DAC/AMP's.

Cheers!

I use a Magni/Modi stack with Sennheiser HD 558 and have really enjoyed them. Currently selling my stack then the headphones and going to pick up some Steelseries H Wireless. I want to switch to a wireless headphones with a built-in mic.

I have an Asgard 2 paired with an Uber Bifrost, powering my HE 500 cans. Quite happy with it, but I'd really like to try out the O2 DAC/Amp combo.

People say that for anything up to HE 500/560 the best amp is the Gustard H10 it's about $450 US dollars.

Schiit is pathetic. It doesn't even support EAX! rolleyes.gif

Just get a sound card and stop deluding yourselves.

Sound cards are great if you only intend to game, but a dedicated DAC/Amp is far superior than all but the top-end soundcards for music consumption. Also, certain types of headphones just can't be driven properly by a soundcard, specifically the high current or high voltage designs.

Buying a quality DAC/Amp for your PC is like upgrading your HDD to an SSD....

Horrible analogy. wink.gif

Upgrading your speakers/room is going to be more of an upgrade than a new DAC... Unless you are using onboard built from dinosaur fossils.

That all depends on the quality of the speakers, their placement, the room, what kind of integrated you have, what it's picking up interference from, etc.

Have you ever run integrated, even ALC1150, out into, say, a preamp driving a pair of mono block amps into a pair of B&W 800 series? I assure you, it sounds like garbage.

Case in point is that even a $150 DAC like an Audioquest Dragonfly will offer an audio experience that is much better than even the best PC soundcard.

Why would I run integrated in to a seperate amp? That's not very logical....

Why would you run a pre-amp, in to another amp, in to something you're going to blow up at this rate? O_o You never re-amp a signal unless you want issues.

Unfortunately, that little USB sound stick won't sound as good as a proper sound card of similar value.
