Microsoft WMO (Steelseries mod)

Pros:
+ eek.gif HIGH SENSOR POSITION eek.gif (wish more mice did this nowadays)
+ THE classic ambi shape
+ Responsive sensor
+ Very lightweight
+ Raw-feeling cursor movement
+ Nice mouse wheel
+ 1,000 different ways to grip it

Cons:
- Mushy buttons
- Click lag (compared to Logitech mice such as the 303)
- Right click broke frown.gif
- Cord is loose and the mouse disconnects randomly now frown.gif
- Negative acceleration

My SS 3.0 has a different wheel; much tighter, and the action is crisp.

I have a non SS mod WMO as well and the wheel definitely feels looser and less tactile on that one. Not sure if it's the mod or just that it was built more recently.

Great placement for right handed gaming (My preference, but I can use other style mice as well and be comfortable)

The mouse is discontinued

I am pleased with the sensor as well.

I am displeased with the side buttons as far as input lag is concerned (if such a word can be used describing the mouse), but I do like their location and button count.

It just doesn't get any better. I've soldered in new omron microswitches to keep this ridiculously amazing mouse going. Nothing I test drive even comes close.

Razor Taipan

+ good for variety of grip (I'm a mix between fingertip and claw); it's functional without too much clutter (i.e. 2 programable buttons on each side and top); can program up to 5 dpi settings and change on fly very easily (great for games like BF4--you can switch from lower dpi when aiming on foot and higher dpi to whip the turrent around on a tank); feels super solid and well built including wheel and cord; can customize lighting to certain extent (wheel and logo); razor synapse 2.0 is legit.

- depending on grip, can unintentionally hit one of the side buttons; i hate pulsating logo--wish it would remain solid--but I solved it by turning it off all together.

p.s. goes great with razor Vesputa mouse pad--two sided for speed or grip.

Logitech G502

+ Optical, flawless sensor
+ Plenty of programmable buttons

- Weight
- Expensive

Finding a mouse with a flawless sensor and more than two thumb buttons turned out to be harder than I thought. Now I can't live without the convenience of all these extra buttons for controlling e.g. Winamp while gaming. The G-shift modifier almost doubles the amount of binds.

Logitech M570

+ It's a trackball.

- Requires regular cleaning for good use.

+ good feel in the hand

+ extra buttons

+ nice classic scroll wheel

+ great battery life

+/- gaming. I can use it well in some games, but strict FPS I need to go back to my trusty MX518
