Best 980TI to purchase?

Thread Starter
I'm having a hard time picking out a 980 ti at the moment. So far the cards that have caught my eye are the Asus strix, MSI gaming, and Evga SC+. I read somewhere that one the great overclocking cards was the Gigabyte 980 ti, but a lot of Gigabyte cards had coil whine?

In any case I'd appreciate any recommendations!

I'm gaming at 1440P and would like to crank the graphic settings as high as possible. Something my 7950 can't do ATM.

Looking for a relatively quiet, and cool GPU.

Hello

I would say take the gigabyte G1 its good overclocker + have beast Air cooler but some card have coil whine..

the strix + Msi gaming need a custom fan curve for good temp or they will hit 80c easily under heavy load

I would say the Gigabyte G1. It wouldn't be my choice is I was going all out for the highest possible o/c as the fans have an irritating whine noise above ~60%. ASIC can be a bit low for "gauntlet" binned but apparently this is common with 980 ti. However overclocks core o/c to ~1400MHz and memory to 7800MHx with ease with latest bios and fans below 60% are very quiet. One other thing it is not a wide card like MSI or Asus which may or may not be a concern (it was for my case as I have a large fan on the side panel).

I like my Zotac Amp Extreme. It does around 1450MHz on its own while staying between 60 and 70 degrees Celcius. I play most games at high to ultra settings, but at 1440 and >144Hz. I overclocked it to 1500MHz without overvolting, but I haven't touched the memory yet. I wanted the massive heat sink to aid in keeping things quiet which seems to have worked as I can't hear when the fans ramp up while playing, even with the speakers quiet. I had the MSI for a bit and it was every bit as great, just slightly lower clocked. If you were skeptical of the Zotac amp extreme, then I'd recommend the Gigabyte like the others have

I appreciate your feedback guys, +rep to everyone.

I just came back from Microcenter, they had a deal on an msi gtx 980ti. I couldn't resist at $450! Just installed it.

It's not the "strongest" choice from the recommendations, but it does look pretty nice. I'm a sucker for looks and great prices.
