m.2 compatible?

Thread Starter
I have a Gigabyte z97n Gaming 5

I have searched the forums as well as google and have found no definitive answers as to whether or not i can remove the wifi card and put an m.2 ssd in there or not. Does anyone know if its possible? I would just buy one and try it out, but i wouldnt be able to use it if its not going to work. and then im stuck with one. Unfortunately, theres no low capacity cheapos on ebay to try out.

Any answers?

I guess when it fits, it works?

tongue.gif

I bought Crucial M.2 a few weeks ago... the "goldfingers" fitted, but the printplate did not... (mine was rectangular and the size in the laptop was square)

So I had to cut a piece out of the laptop tongue.gif but it works and is way faster now biggrin.gif

The Wifi card connects via a Mini PCIe slot. You would need a Mini PCIe to M.2 adapter and PCIe M.2 SSD. Although idk if it would work properly or how performance would be. It is a PCIe x1 lane from the Z97 chipset based on what I see in the user manual.
