[WCCF] AMD Zen And K12 Designs Completed And Taped Out - On Track For 2016 And 2017 Availability - Page 3

Sure hope AMD brings the fight back....I miss the days when Intel and Nvidia actually had competition. The biggest mistake AMD ever made imho was to fight two giants at the same time....tough for a small company to do.

Good to see Zen is flowing better....can't wait to see the benchmarks.

He mention ARM and x86 APUs/CPUs

ARM = 14nm because its LP (low power)
Zen = 16nm because its not LP but HP

The K12 he mention is SOCs based on ARM which will be 14nm. Styx is one of them

Even if he is solely talking about CPUs, doesn't change the fact that both AMD's next gen CPUs and GPUs will be on 14nm and/or 16nm. As both have been rumored to be on one process or another at some point in time.

Taped out is just the beginning, there's still a lot of development and verification work left.

Zen is being made on a low power plus process node, not a high performance node. There is no confirmation whatsoever that it is made on 16nm and there is really even only a single small rumor that suggests such a thing. All info prior has been that Zen is on 14nm.

...You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to process nodes.

Usually 8-12 months from tape out to product launch.

They do have multiple 14nm process nodes, the Broadwell node and the specific Skylake node that is an actual High Performance node.

im going to do zen as long as it matches skylake in gaming, cause gaming is all i care about. and arctic islands top tier card as well as long as it can match pascal. im tired of the way intel and nvidia treat people, like forcing geforce experience down my throat - which btw i cant use because that program messes up toastyx cru which is required for my monitor overclocking program so yeah that means im stick with driver updates every 3-4 months... cause i cant get geforce experience im never going back to 60hz and nvidia can bugger off, and intel only focusing on onboard graphics.

I would personally love to see AMD destroy Intel for the next decade...This will never happen, but it would be awesome to watch.

If it is in 15% or less of Skylake performance, It will be a pass for me.
