The problem is that flagship phones are replaced every single year and their resale value is like that of a car. Pay 650 today and and you'll find em used for 300 a year from now.

If you want a new phone buy a year old flagship GS5, LG G3, one m8 etc. The money you save can buy a new video card. And that will make a way bigger difference than any marginal increase in benchmark score.
Or just don't upgrade your phone every year? Unless you want something like that new Windows phone that can hook up to a little dock and mimic a full fledged PC, then a phone from two or three years ago will do you as much good as a phone today. What is so demanding on a phone that requires you to purchase a new one every year for essential just a new CPU.

True for Android phones but iPhones keep their resale value very well.

I guess that depends on what you mean by "very well". A good condition 5s which MSRPed for 650 dollars can be had for 200-225 now. A good condition 6 can be had for 350-400 (less than a month after the release of the 6s; this will drop further as the year progresses).

iPhone 6 16GB:

Samsung Galaxy S5:

Not sure how you're getting your prices. I just sold a messed up iPhone 6 for $485 on eBay.

It's well known iPhones hold their value much longer than Androids. Galaxy S5s can be had for under $200.

Still really looking into the phone. I moved from OS X to Windows 10 so I don't feel as locked in to iPhones as I used to.
$15 in fees, Man, feel bad for you, mine is $3.92...

my thing is i need at least 3 gigs of data, so if i could get away with 1-2 a month, i'd do that, but unfortunately i stream too much music in my car.
I'm envious of some of you and how you can get away with such a low cellphone bill.

Verizon Wireless
700 shared mins and unlimited text
Unlimited Data
4GB of Data

165 a month and with Verizon raising the price on grandfathered unlimited plans to 49.99 I'll be in the 180~190 a month and that's with a employer discount lachen.gif

BTW I already preordered a Nexus 6P Frost 128GB right when it opened up and I have a deliver ETA of Nov 5~10.

My older HTC M8 has become nothing but issues as usual since I refuse to root/unlock it. Overtime with all the apps I used turned Android into a slug.

Using a Lumia 735 I bought this month to hold me over since I couldn't stand the M8 anymore and I'm loving it. Its making me reconsider my 6P purchase for a 950XL.

I'm on the waitlist for the 6P and have been since a week ago. I imagine if I am lucky I will get one by Christmas.

Waiting for that 6P is killing me. Moto G is running on life support. Lag, reboots on its own, nagging about not enough space. sad-smiley-002.gif
post #50 of 109
