290X with no overclock

You can see at 2:26 for graphic settings

ULTRA settings 1440P with FXAA ON and 2X MSAA

YOUR video is fake. Thats why he moves the camera around so fast. GTA V @1440 uses3.4 to 3.8 GB of vram. He screen only shows 2.8 yea right I know better. And it looks a lot better than your video. A lot . LOOK at the POP UP ALERT 3:26 YOU MADE CHANGES but did not apply them! Proves my point.

Subjective at best

Negative. You take the largest hit where there's a lot of grass / foliage actually. Grass has always been the largest hit to your FPS in GTA V.

Driving at 55 FPS, and driving at 90FPS makes a huge difference.

The 380 should be faster than a gtx 960. It's about 65% larger and isn't old tech. The problem is that for the most part only 10% faster, perhaps less if we include the overclocked gtx 960 that are most of the 960's.

I think besides the 980 and titan x, the 960 is not a well priced card, but this has more to do with desperation on AMD part and it's choice to sacriface profits and take a loss so that they can get some sort of marketshare.

The r9 380 is a large chip to sell for 200 dollars. It's bigger than tahiti and is closer in size to a gtx 970 than a gtx 960. If efficiency was on AMD side still, the r9 380 should be competing with the 970, but it gets trounced. What this causes to happen is AMD is forced to have a bad business model and really kill the profits the GPU used to make. But they have to or have stock stay in warehouses and depreciate.

Nvidia likely doesn't want to underprice their products because they know, the public will often pick their products even if it is a tad slower. Nvidia could drop the price of the gtx 960 by 50 dollars if they wanted too. It's more along the lines of the r7 370 in size and 140-150 is where this card occupies. However they don't need to go after the profit killing route. It would simply depress prices further and kill AMD sooner which they likely don't want. What they likely realize is that they have a brand advantage which allows them to get the lionshare of the market and feed AMD scraps while making higher profits for themselves.

Add in Nvidia's superior game bundles and along with public perception of Nvidia cards at the moment, AMD just won't sell which is very bad considering they are as low as can go.

What about GTA V which shows 3400 VRAM when nearly maxed ?? with no MSAA !

Maybe its you who hasn't played this game before.

Nice try, epic fail. Thats why you get a pop up at @3:26 that say you did'nt apply the new settings. Also thats why your only using 2.7 GB of vram. You cant fake vram, thats why the total vram is on that screen. Just for that reason It take at least 3.7 to 3.9.

Also I was playing in 4K the first day it launched. YOUR video is fake and, I proved it 3:26. Hence the pop up!!!!! thumb.gif
Do you know how to apply new setting's? And you can clearly see the difference in the videos. Also how I knew yours was faked. LOOK at the DIFFERENCE, gee.

Stray cases? Together with New Order (which behaves exactly the same) they are three of the top shooters from 2013 onwards that I myself have played. I bet there are others too .not to mention all mantle games that saturate 2GB at 1080p as well. 2 gigs are simply not enough if you wish to max all games@1080p these days.

You can't say that so generally. In areas where GPU is bottleneck you would see no improvements with better CPU, and that is most of the time in GTA 5. There would be no fps difference between i5-750 and i7-6700k in GPU limiter area.

My 750 @4.2GHz is enough even in CPU intensive game such as GTA 5, believe it or not. I don't see need to upgrade yet. Only worthy upgrade would be six cores.

If it's simply about the Vram then why didnt they test at 4k resolutions? Because obviously none of these cards have the horsepower for that resolution. I'm not attempting to argue with any of their conclusions, the R9 380 does begin to show it's advantages at higher resolutions but really these are midlevel cards designed for 1080p. Some older games probably play great at 1440p, but there will be some compromises in newer games.
