Even the lowest playing players make about $40,000 a year.

Which still equates to about $21 per hour.

I'd love to see you field a punt against any NFL special teams. I would settle for you getting posted up on by a NBA player. You'd need to have your weak keyboard warrior self picked up and driven off.

while csgo has had match fixing scandals from what i remember it has never been to the extent of this in SC2, that last sentence should of been left out imo.
I'm actually more surprised by the amount they were payed to throw a match.

Being skilled at your game, or practicing the game for many hours, doesn't actually make the "job" any more difficult or any more in line with the average person's soul crushing labor/menial tasks to profit ratios.

You can be on your feet all day, balancing 5 platters on each arm, getting spat at by entitled patrons for $7.25 and hour, or $80 an hour clicking some buttons on your ergonomic mouse, playing a game that you already play for fun in your spare time, but getting paid for it because you are doing it "professionally".

At least professional "real" sports players actually perform some impressive physical feats and have to put a lot of very not fun training and exercise into it to achieve those goals. Not that they deserve the money they get either, doing literally nothing for society other than inspiring bar fights, stadium riots, and unrealistic expectations among children.

In other words, if you worked in garbage disposal really enjoy putting together puzzles in your spare time, and someone offered you $1000 to put a puzzle together on TV, would it suddenly become an incredibly difficult task? Would you pass that offer up and keep doing your job tossing people's trash into a truck instead?

No, they don't. A TON of them live in team houses, share a room for playing and sleeping with half a dozen other guys and make pennies, like get housed and make $5k per year. Only a fraction make ~$40k.

You offered no analysis or insist into the conversation.... most be how you have nearly 4,000 posts.

I commented on one person, added a link to a thread with a lot of new details in OP (player feelings/responses to the incident) and a lot of discussion relating to that underneath. I then linked to another incident from earlier in the scene and made several comments about the news - i added a thousand times more than you.

I can also count; i have nearly 9,300 posts here and more on several other forums because i spent ~10 hours of my life every week for the last 5 years reading them.

Professional players don't make 5K a year. Amateurs taking part in local competitions do.

Only a fraction of gamers make 40k a year gaming, sure, but only a fraction of gamers are actually professional gamers, despite what every CoD kiddie wants you to think.
