I've yet to get the most current version, but if i ever decide to upgrade my sound system, RB will be my second purchase there after. Does anyone know how often the new RB releases dlc?

They used to release it every week, and according to Wikipedia they still are after a bit of a hiatus earlier in the year. They also seem to be releasing about about 7 or so songs at a time. Sometimes more sometimes less.

Bottom line is you can come up with every excuse in the book as the why you think DLC is acceptable. Those of us that have been around longer than you have, KNOW we're being shafted in the name of higher profit margins for game developers. Rational thought? That's not possible with your damn eyes closed.

Since you all love and support DLC so much, let's see you go out and spend the thousands of dollars on this DLC, and then come back and tell us how your investment is sound and was a good purchase. Try to do it with a straight face.

So, what other method would you suggest? You'd rather have just a few songs (60-80) in the game and that's the end of the story? Or, for instance, have the base game with 1000 songs, but paying $400 for it instead of $60?

Not all DLC and again, who is going to buy all of it? I can tell you with a straight face that the almost $200 my family spent in songs on the previous versions was money well spent. We enjoyed countless hours of entertainment from it, actually wearing out several instruments.

What is the business model you would like to see here is what I'm curious about. Free DLC, or just large expansion packs? I'm sincerely curious.

If I purchase DLC and enjoy it, how exactly am I throwing my money away? Also, why are you telling me what to do with my money?

Something like Rock Band, and Record Lables, how much of that cash did the game developers and music artist actually see! Let alone what the game developers even saw from dlc songs?

People gave legit reasons as to why this dlc costs what it does. This is one case of dlc where all the money is not going straight to the company that owns Rockband. I also fail to see how people are wasting money on songs they like.... You act like someone is going to go out and buy every single song when they will probably buy 5-20 songs. That is less than $60, I mean I have spent that going to sushi and paying for a couple friends and that lasts for one evening where as 20 songs will last you over an hour of enjoyment if you play each song once which is highly unlikely. I would also bet 90% of the people on this site grew up before dlc. Not all dlc is bad, a lot of it is though.

I doubt you have been around longer than we have. I've been gaming since the early 90s.

I think I'm one of the few who likes DLC for the most part. I bought all the DLC for Mass Effect back in the day. I also plan on buying Dragon Age Inquisition's DLC when I start playing it because I heard some of the stuff is pretty good.

And yeah I'm a 90s kid so I never grew up with DLC. But if Earthbound or Chrono Trigger had DLC I'd probably buy it.

I wouldn't buy all of the DLC. That's absolutely ridiculous and I highly doubt Harmonix actually expects anyone to do that. You're making it out to be far worse than it actually is.

And why bring up age? It's irrelevant. There are plenty of people who make good arguments for DLC (including people in this thread) who are likely just as old, if not older than you. You're just being condescending and it's really kinda lame. There's no need for it and it makes it really hard to take you seriously.

Whats more annoying is the dlc I lost when they lose licensing. I lost all my Metallica songs, had to repurchase the 2112 pack because instead of leaving the songs as individual songs they combined them into 3 condensed packs. That was 1.99*6+11.99= 23.93 to waste with no chance of refund. 1.99 per song is not bad at all, i mean a song from itunes is .99 and they have to add playable notes to them as well.
