Nickled and Dimed at every turn AND songs are not the only way this game makes income. Plastic toys people- a complete band set will cost you more above the cost .............

you know what, forget it..... its all good. Enjoy your game thumb.gif

you guys are acting like they are charging $4k for 10 songs................

the total cost of the DLC is high because its a huge amount of content. i can understand being upset if A. they forced you to buy the DLC to play the game or B. there was a fraction of the content available for the same price. neither of those things are happening so whats the big deal?

if anything this is how DLC should be done.

Agreed, Not to mention if we got rid of DLC we would just go back to the model of getting a game, And maybe getting an expansion 6months later that had the same amount of contact that would have been pushed out over those 6months for pretty much the same price.

For Rockband it would pretty much mean they would release packs of songs and you would have to buy them all or not get any every month or so if we went back to the old model. I would very much rather content come quicker and get to pick and choose which parts I wanted. Some companies do a terrible job though especially if it means pay to win or makes the base game un playable.

Im not upset, I honestly don't care what OTHERS pay or how much of the game they wish to own. No matter how you slice it or justify it or rationalize it the complete game is 4 grand. Its less if you don't want it all but its still 4 grand for the entire game. Even if you don't pay for everything its still four grand for the entire game. Im just trying to express my shock the new benchmark in full game ownership. Everyone is talking that its not four grand because you buy what you want but if you do (and ive not posted anything against partial ownership than to say IF) you want the whole game its Four Grand for a complete game.

Pay what you want, buy the parts you want, enjoy how you want but its still four grand for the whole game.

This is an idiotic article. If Tweaktown wants to lambaste Harmonix over a legitimate issue, they ought to run an article on Harmonix stacking the deck with self-written favorable reviews on Amazon. Otherwise, this is just more clickbait masquerading as tech and gaming journalism. Shocking, I say.

Although Harmonix's latest entry in the acclaimed Rock Band franchise has been met with much fanfare and applause

It isn't even an accurate article; critical and fan impressions have been mostly positive, but it hasn't been acclaimed by any stretch, especially with the instrumental firmware issues and some gutted features like character customization. I should know; I've been playing the game series since it came out, apparently unlike this author.

Also, who the hell do you think is going to download EVERY single one of those? Let alone play them all... This is not surprising or as insulting as people seem to think it is.

It's not the benchmark nor will it be. There are justifiable reasons for the way it is in this game. Their library of music has be built upon across multiple games and this isn't something you're going to see that often.

to put in perspective.

You work at best buy

-customer walks in looking to buy a game for the kids to open Xmas morning
'Hey, how much for this game?"

BB- " Four Grand if you want all the songs, extra for the plastic toys"

-customer walks away laughing

Sticker shock is everything wink.gif

Or customer walks in - "how much for the game"

BB- "the usual price for a video game + optional dlc that you dont need to experience the game"

- customer makes informed decision wither or not they want optional extras

Wouldn't you just tell them the base price and the price per song/packs since that's what most people are going to be interested in? What you're saying is kind of misleading.
