No delid. i7 with HT on. 1.375vcore. Temperatures are not a problem at all! - Since i got this CPU, it's like ~25c cooler than 4770k.

What is your source for thermal issues when the entire OCN skylake userbase is having a party over icy cold temps on low end coolers? People are very quick to report that the sky is falling but don't seem to notice when it actually becomes fine again

Woah woah woah, WHAT? Really? I can't believe I didn't hear about this!

brb selling everything I own. (Oh that's right, I already did that for a 3570k and a 970 G1)...

Aha! But I can make this even more confusing by quoting you to tell you about reediting my post of your partially quoted unreedited post to requote it to your reedited post. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Now I've done it.

Will Kaby even surmount to anything? What is Intel doing? Are they re-redesigning their chip? Adding cashe?

A 30% gain from 32nm to 14nm just doesn't jive with "less nm = faster" that we keep being told

Less nm doesn't = faster neccesarily. It means packing more transistors into a smaller area.

32nm brought us the first 6 core CPU's.

22nm brought us the first 18 core CPU's

14nm is bringing us the first 28 core CPU's.

I'm sure there are other CPU's out there with more, weaker cores - but i mean full performance cores. 18 HASWELL cores, 28 SKYLAKE cores. Full performance per clock, sane clock speeds.

We have the improvements, we just have not seen them on mainstream because of the intel monopoly. They have no reason at all to use more than 4 cores on an easily affordable platform because their quad core was competitive, arguably better than AMD's offering in 2013 and since then they've improved it by 20% while AMD hasn't released a new CPU.

Am I reading that image right? Kirby Lake in 2017?
So nothing in 2016? Thought everything was yearly..

The new Core M products also launched last month but I can't find reviews yet. I think it will be decent now they fixed their 14nm node and used the Skylake architecture rather than Broadwell with flawed 14nm node.
Could be really nice but I hope they will bring out models with 2 m2 slots or 1 m2 slot and a sata port so I can install both a LTE card and a SSD while keeping the wlan card in the laptop. I don't get why there are no network cards that do both wifi and LTE as the only thing needed is an additional antenna for the low(er) frequency LTE.

This is great news for AMD. If they can get Zen out by the end of 2016, 2nd gen Zen should be out just in time to compete with Cannonake. They might even squeak it out slightly before.

sky is falling cold temps

Yeah? So where is the 95 watts going then? Anyway, mostly to set the scale of what's going on, the articles I read were at release.

In the end AMD will be dropping from 32nm to 14 and 16nm in one jump, which could easily make or break the company. One hell of a jump.
