Apple don't have employees, stores, research facilities, shareholders, servers, software developers and they don't have to pay Foxconn.

Apple Shops are franchises. Like all the McDonalds shops you see.

Oh yeah. Of course.

Having those open and employees working in them are free for both Apple and McDonalds

Neither company has to actually pay for them

Manufacuring costs are part of cost of goods sold, which includes labor, materials, and overhead for Foxconn. it doesn't take into account costs of running the firm, in this case Apple.

No. There are Apple resellers but all Apple stores are corporate owned.

Including products they sell.

You would have to be stupid if you expect any company to sell their products at the cost of the materials.

Not stupid; just ignorant of capitalism and how it makes the world economy function. Apple (and all the other phone makers) are only making phones because they can make a ton of money to do so. Why on Earth would Apple charge less than they do for an iPhone when they are going to sell 50 million of them no matter what they charge?

Actually the iPhone is made by Foxconn and Pegatron (Pegatron is a subsidiary or manufacturing arm of ASUS).

Pegatron also makes Apple's iPads and assembles some of the Macbooks. (Foxconn and Pegatron are the two major manufacturing partners of Apple).

Also HTC and Apple have a cross licensing agreement settled a few years ago. HTC can make an EXACT clone or copy of the iPhone and vise versa - they both would be okay with it (minus the operating system of course).

Apple can charge whatever it wants as long as the customers pay for it and inventory is moving. Compared to other brands - you don't see Apple products discounted as much as other electronics and PC companies's products.

Apple still have to pay the factories and other expenses - just read their financial reports, cash flow, P&L, and other financial statements. All publicly trade companies have to state and release that information.

Asus no longer has a stake in Pegatron.

Oh and let's not forget that Apple do not have to pay any lawyers and attorneys salaries while they're fighting arrogant DOJ (Dept. of Justice) prosecutors. Everybody at Apple works for free, you know! thumb.gif "Apple makes $500 per phone! I hate Apple !!"

I own iPhone 6 Plus and I like this phone for a reason. Its elegance, simplicity and functionality is unmatched whether Android users observe it or not.

phones and laptops are intellectual products. they are about r&d costs not material costs. not that that is reflective of apple's prices, directly anyway
