Asus GTX 970 Strix overclock results

Hello people!

I own an Asus GTX 970 Strix OC with stock bios and 83.1% ASIC (if that matters anyway). I would like to hear from you guys, how my GPU fares based on the following:

Firestrike Benchmark: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/8975771

GPU Overclock Settings:

Unigine Heaven 4.0 Benchmark result:

GPU-Z Sensors during Unigine Heaven 4.0 Benchmark:

Now, based on that, how is my GPU?

I'd say that if you lower the clock speed a little bit, you might keep from bashing the card's head against the PWR perf cap and throttling...may help your scores.

Hmm... shall try that. but isn't it better to hit the PWR Perf cap rather than voltage cap? or the other way around?

Hitting either cap is going to throttle the core speed. Both are bad. With the STRIX you won't be able to do much about a voltage cap, but if you increase the power target to the max allowable in either Precision X or Afterburner, it may alleviate a little bit of it.

EDIT: Just noticed that it looks like you're already running the max on the power target. You're pretty much stuck there, unless you mod the bios to increase the power limits.

It's not bad for a STRIX.

Try Heaven at 1080. I'm curious.

The screenshot from 1080 is in the first post. It shows 1067 tho, probably cuz I didn't let it run fullscreen cuz I kept the GP-Z on screen.
But if you want, I can do a new benchmark tonight (now I am on my way to work) and post it here. Will also try to lower the core clock a bit.

It's saying 122% of TDP....to get under the power limit, you'll have to drop it quite a ways. Hmm. Maybe try 1530 or so. Try to keep the memory as high as possible though. Unigine LOVES high memory clocks.

Upping the memory more, will give artifacts frown.gif

Sometimes the TDP spikes to 126% biggrin.gif, and most of the time over 120% I thought thats a good thing biggrin.gif

No, any time you see the green in the perf cap reason, that's PWR perf cap. It means, it's hitting the power limits, and throttling the core speed of the card down to compensate, and get it back under the power limit. The TDP and the power limit usually have the same values, so, if you're at 120% of TDP, then you're also very close to 120% over the power limit, and it's causing the core clocks to drop. When core clocks drop, so does the FPS.
