That's probably why this is planned for the dark side of the moon, the entire moon is between you and the sun.

Interesting to know what they plan on using as a power source without solar though.

It would be fantastic proof that they can speak a language that isn't just slapping words together and praying :thumb:

Think about it, "we" were there in the 60's using electronics that are now outclassed by an off the shelf Walmart calculator. Canada built an aircraft which could have flown in space as easily as it could fly across the country IN THE 60's

Also, as far as ownership goes, history has shown its only yours until someone else takes it from you. Always been this way and always will be this way.

Well that thing has jet engines and no maneuvering thrusters, so i'll take a pass on trying to fly to the moon in it biggrin.gif

I like how the first image has the Earth in the sky - so it isn't the dark side of the moon.

Thats the two american built underpowered engines used for testing and that was the 1957 (when one of two canadian engines were tested which were to power the Arrow they almost ripped the american plane apart @ 60% power, even having to shut down the other 6 engines that were being used to fly the plane) also keeping that in mind, it had tech which is modern by todays standards and given it was the time of the space race its not a hard leap to think that this ship would have been capable flying in space as easily as flying across the country with minor reto-fit

can't we live like dwarves and dig deep into the mountain, or underground, and maybe even find some super precious ore deposits that haven't been discovered yet.

ya, its really weird that we have not even gone (on record wink.gif ) and explored all that our own oceans have to offer. The arctic is perfect for testing as it would have many of the same situations which peeps would find on frozen planets. I hear its far more difficult dealing with the pressure put on you from the weight of the water vs the pulling effect of space.

People complaining about the money need to think long term. The tech to live off world is very hard to develop and needs a lot of time. The sooner we start developing this tech the better. There could be a monster space object heading towards us right now and we not know about it or are keeping it quiet. One day we will need to leave this earth either from our own doing or from natural causes.

It’s not exactly so. The side of the moon is not dark because it is facing away from the sun, it's because it is facing away from the earth. The lunar orbit and angular momentum of its spin are such that it always faces the same half towards earth. This is why no matter when you look at it or how well the moon is illuminated, it will always show the same crater pattern. Now imagine a solar eclipse, when the moon is blocking out the sun, then the part of the moon that's facing away from the earth is also facing towards the sun. AND there is no atmosphere to speak of, so all that gamma is hitting you full on.
