I do agree that bay reservoirs are quite troublesome to service. But when you have small space to work with, it's sometimes the only way to go.
If it were obsolete, we would not have any bay reservoir in the market already tongue.gif

All higher quality bay res pumps can be easily disassembled and manually scrubbed clean. It's not a universal bay pump problem. Normally the whole face plate comes off and the pump can be removed.
I'm not aware of any other sealed models besides the xspc ones.

I've had several bay pumps and they were all good devices and saved space. They just required slightly more patience and care to fill and bleed but when you only do it once every six months or so it's a good trade off.

The xspc submerged pumps are not known for their reliability or lifespan. Every one I know on the Aussie forums ended up having to replace therm fairly soon so had to spend more in the long run.
