If you read between the lines, this has nothing to do with pirates. They are hiding behind the term "pirate" to keep you from the truth.

Truth is you will never own your games anymore. You either licence them from Steam or get a piece of the game on disk and the rest is stored on servers and you have to phone home for even single player games.

They are just to shy to tell you that you are leasing the game, you do not own the game, and hide behind the false flag that has come to be known as piracy.

They will be releasing it on Blu-Ray for the consoles, no reason why they can't do the same for PC.

Reason why games have not made it to Blu-Ray is the same drivel Beth is shovelling now, ie piracy.

I think they don't want PC gamers to have the full game because they think it would be more profitable if they licence the game to us with no hope of ownership or resale.

How many PC gamers have Blu-ray drives? You ever think that maybe that's the reason? The options are A) spend a buttload in packaging and shipping a half dozen DVDs or B) distribute the game in a niche medium that few people can even use. They're not going to do both. It would be a logistical nightmare and simply not worth it to make two versions. So they'd be forced to ship on multiple DVDs. But even then, optical drives are going away in general and it would be too expensive to bother from a business standpoint.

I love how OCN tends to say, in any thread about HDDs, "Pssh, why are those dinosaurs still around? I only use solid state drives," yet also say "I want my games shipped on an outdated medium!" I understand that optical media has its niche, but it's getting to the point where digital distribution is the only distribution.

Blu-ray burners are like $50. Very affordable if you wanted to buy the blu-ray version of the game.

The next-gen consoles use blu ray disc. There is no reason why we cant get them printed the same way, except that besthesda doesnt trust the PC community aka pirates.

The problem is most PCs don't have a Blu-Ray drive. While a full game disk may be useful to you, it doesn't make financial sense for Bethesda if most of their customers can't use it.

Cant Bethesda do the same thing with consoles? How many modern games now need that massive day-1 patch to even work? All Bethesda has to do is make that day-1 patch mandatory. Completely removing the resale for PC games is a valid point. Publisher just need to do the same with consoles....

As tempting as it is to buy FO4 on release... I think that... after my experience with GTA V's DRM (which is completely game-breaking, even in single player now), I think I'll go with option number two, which is obviously the smarter choice for me, the consumer.

These game companies just don't get it. They are encouraging piracy through their anti-piracy policies. I made a huge mistake buying GTA V and I'm not about to make the same mistake with FO4. Thanks for this article, because it's got me very weary about actually purchasing this game.

There's a good reason. Most PC's don't have blu-ray drives. Considering the fact that physical media as a whole is dying out I don't see this changing.

If they felt like Blu-Ray was worth putting out pc games on then they could easily hold back enough of the game to make it still require a DL to be playable.

Yea, I mean it would be cool to have one. Just not a must have. Hell, don't even need dvd drives though I use one in all of my rigs since they are really cheap ($15) and do prove useful at times. Such as installing Ramdisk off my mobo installation CD (rest of it is less useful).
