I've been playing Battlefront Beta with every setting on max at 1080P. This is on an old 7950. Game stays at 50-60 FPS. Just because the hardware is older doesn't mean it's incapable. In fact, it never a linear comparison to look at how many years old vs performance. Just look at the difference between Skylake and Sandy Bridge in games. Hardly any, at all. Yet how many years apart?

I play Battlefront Beta on a 30$ Celeron with only a little lower FPS smile.gif

My Phenom can be compared to an i7 920 and while yes, the games run fine, I have a feeling if I had a newer Intel processor, I wouldn't lose my nerves when CPU bound dips occur (Most noticeable : BF and games like that, WoW being one game that literally halves its FPS compared to new Intels - I have 110FPS instead of getting like 190+).

the flip side of this is...if their min and (especially) recommended specs were way lower, people would complain that they are doing an injustice by "letting people hang on to their old gpu's for one more game" and not taking full advantage of newer cards. I don't think there's much wrong with the specs you have listed from them

I bought a 7870 a few years ago...and would be disappointed if I had anything higher than my current 2x7970 with new AAA titles still spec'ing my old gear.

that logic is of course assuming the listed recommendations are true and even across the board for the same playing experience, which isn't the case, but one could hope

how is that a problem minimum a I5 and phenom 2 quad are you kidding me that is old school the thing is game dev's have finally got the push to optimize for games beyond just dual cores and now you are complaining what is wrong with you. The thing is this needed to be done a while back to get the average PC upto par instead of letting all the dual core owners and such drag games down for everyone even the consoles are beyond the minimum specs for this game so come on.

I will say this I am glad they put theyre foot down and said minimum requirement is a quad core CPU and DX11 GPU and 8gb of system ram this will help push the rest of the market forward if they keep catering to dual cores / sub dx11 and such users well we will be stuck in mid 2000's game development model and we will never get fully into the year 2015+ game development model put simply people like you are why the market has been so stagnant and why the tech / software hasn't pushed forward. The market has finaly pushed dev's to have to unhook the heavy anchor that has been holding them down to move forward dual cores users / sub dx11 card users / and well under 8gb of ram users are that anchor that has burdened them and held them back.

No, you are terribly, terribly wrong.
"devs optimizing for quad cores" is NOT the same as "quad cores are now the bare minimum". This does not logically follow! Core utilization is not the only form of optimization! All my programs are "optimized for quad cores", but the also work on Atom. It is not acceptable for a game to Demand a 400$ cpu as minimum! (figuratively speaking)

Sandy is only 20% slower than Haswell per clock. If it really requires such a fast CPU, it is a worse optimization fail than Watch Dogs.

Lmao, "$400 cpu as a minimum".

Try an 8320 for $140 and you'll be at or above recommended depending on how successfully you can OC the chip.

There's nothing wrong with the requirements, at all.

FX8320 - $140
990FX mobo - $100-$200
XFX 290x - $300

$540 for recommended specs is not expensive.

Go with Nvidia/Intel and you'll be paying twice as much. (4790k - $330, GTX780 - $550, +mobo = $1,000) so be smart with your money and know what you're getting for it.

Ok, you're only seeing this as an issue because of the $30 Celeron. When you built your system and skimped on the CPU you should of know you were going to have these issues creep up sooner than later.

The only reason I see you protesting the min suggested is because they don't suit you.
