Passing Sound Card output through one of the HDMIs on computer (mobo or gpu hdmi) ?

Man, how frustrating. I almost returned a good (in a way..) 7.1 receiver because I thought its Digital Output wasn't working right.

Turns out D-outs only support up to 5.1 surround sound through Dolby Digital. (I know this for sure, and I can't get it to use the rears, well as rears instead of side speaker extension) .

Actually the rears will work in stereo mode, otherwise if I test the speakers through Windows Sound devices, testing the rears will output sound from the sides.

My motherboard doesn't give audio from its HDMI for some reason, only the onboard d-out is listed and I tried using the HDMI from my Titan but I think its just stereo.

Why the heck don't sound cards have HDMI input, they are the best compared to D-outs and give uncompressed sound even with 7.1.

Invisible tears roll down my face after thinking I might have to use my an audio source other than my newly purchased Essence STX II 7.1 to output 7.1 surround sound audio.

Any solutions to get this newly setup 7.1 surround sound system working in full bloom. The only way I can get the PC connected is via the receiver so D-out, HDMI, Coax (no way), or stereo red/white.

Read the OCN guide:
How To: Computer HDMI Sound to Receiver

Use your Titan. It should have full support for surround HDMI audio.
And that is also the reason why HDMI soundcards belong to the museum, a GPU can handle the same task perfectly.

Receiver model? Does it have HDMI outputs?
