Questionable laptop performance, HDD fault, AMD switchable graphics?

Good-day.

Laptop - HP Pavilion G7-2200SA - Specification

I have upgraded to Windows 10 on this laptop, but I noticed some problems before.
Installing things takes quite some time, occasionally even mouse pointer lags.
As for drivers, everything seems to be as new as possible, except for audio driver. I allowed windows to install that automatically, as one suggested made sound extremely high pitched, and I uninstalled that AMD offered driver.
Have changed thermal paste and cleaned fan.

When looking at disk usage, it is usually at-least 60% doing nothing..
As for APU, the fan starts working quite soon after turning on laptop.
Even when idled it spins faster than it should.

So.. The user of this computer mostly uses just internet [ at 125% zoom, if that changes anything ] - youtube, flash games and applications, viewing pictures and videos.

#1 5400 rpm HDD, could that be the lag issue, as just opening internet browser increases disk usage to 100%.
Would changing to SSD solve performance issues? Budget is very tight, most affordable thing would be 120 GB of SSD
Would this SSD fit, work well and such, back-compatibility? I haven't ever tinkered or installed SSD's.

#2 Is it possible to use the better graphics option in this laptop in less demanding applications?
I imagine some heavier flash applications would work better with better graphics option.
But I do not see any switch options as in intel / nvidia laptops.

Regards

Well I can say that Windows 10 loves fast storage no matter what device it is (But it also loves dual channel RAM from my experience with multiple laptops that were upgraded to dual channel, my Latitude in my sig is an example of one laptop that had an instant boost going to 4gb 2x2gb of ram from 2gb+1gb)
So SSD is definitely something you could pick up and if you are using 4+2gb of ram (Which I think judging by the specs you are) it might be worth swapping the 2gb one out with a 4gb one rated at the same speeds as the first one.
