Two choices for x99 motherboard, which?

I originally purchased the MSI x99a SLI PLUS motherboard. A week later, Frys electronics had the MSI x99s Gaming 7 for 92 dollars. I drove 4 hours away and picked it up biggrin.gif

I now have two x99 motherboards. I was thinking about keeping the gaming 7 and sending the SLI PLUS back to newegg to get over 200 dollars back. If i do this, do they have a restocking fee for motherboards? I did open the anti static bag to inspect the pins on the motherboard but i didn't run a post and no accessories in the box were opened.

From the research i done, the gaming 7 has better sound which isn't really a factor to me. I don't have expensive peripheral devices to get the quality of the sound the motherboard probably produces. It also has a killer LAN, but due to my setup i have no choice but to run wireless. The biggest benefit of the x99a SLI PLUS is having 3.1 USB support whereas the gaming 7 version i have doesn't. However, i don't have any peripheral devices that use 3.1 USB. Even in the future, 3.0 will work fine for what i need, i rarely run USB devices other than external drives

Before i make the decision on which motherboard to use for my build, i would like to hear your recommendations on which motherboard i should use. My decision is based on overall performance, overclocking rates and the one that has less known issues. I've read the gaming 7 has had problems with bad dimms but it's a good looking board, both color schemes will fit my motherboard.

Which do you suggest and why?

While I like my SLI Plus, I would stay still with the Gaming 7. Newegg I believe has a 15% restock fee, but you will still be ahead value wise. USB 3.0 should be enough as you said, and you might as well get the better sound quality if you decide to upgrade speakers/headset. The debug light is also nice which the SLI Plus does not have (Would have been useful for me when my mobo didn't boot at first and needed to reseat the CPU.)

I appreciate your response man, thanks. I'll stick with the gaming 7.
