Honestly your card is strange never seen such a card before.. the best you can do just ignore it and game still powerful card thumb.gif

I can see him right commenting on the difference in the table provides a boost to 75 81. Table 2b it is up to 68.
Can I not want to be so demanding, so do not bug me that Nvidia Boost 2.0, would be happy to have those 2 cards with a steady light Oc 1450mhz about 2 in SLI.
because now the minimum NvidiaBoost cut me off and makes me less MHz.

I am an orphan ... lol
2 980 sli strix you with different bios ... this is going to be chaos to remove or to refine Boost 2.0 installation and get the most out of the money you leave me.

from what I read, for now there are many more strix with 2b. so in that bios it will be easier to find reference to cancel Boost mod 2.0

Now I have to go with a thousand eyes, which has Bios .81. Or so it seems very new or nobody messed with him yet.

What I can say is that without changing anything try putting the bios 2b in 81, 81 and flashed once, turn on lights, but when I run any game or load on the GPU driver gives failure and closes the application.

So I conclude that something must have plaque that originally came with the 81 that is not able to run the bios 2b.

Exactly, that is EXACTLY the same problem I'm talking about. Glad to know I'm not the only one. It totally looks like there's something radically different between bios .2B and the infamous .81 we have, cause .2B caused the same instant crashes to me while .81 is always ok, but never allows me to get the voltage past 1.200v. Even if I set it to +87, 1.2128 from afterburner or gpu tweak 2, the gpu still gets 1.200v. Meanwhile, I've written an e-mail to asus italy engineering team, but I suppose they'll not answer anytime soon. They may want to keep all of this hidden for a little while, and I'm hoping they're working on a solution cause even if there are some great vbios modders around (including me, you, mr-dark) and a lot more, we may not have access to a tool powerful enough to edit vbioses like that. Even an hexeditor may not be enough, so honestly MAYBE, just maybe, Asus is the only one having the key to solve this problem, should they recognize it.

I'll keep this post close haha thanks Velez as you can see it's not I'm just one of Barcelona is also curious that buys the 2 cards in about 18 days apart, and I was pretty sure it would be the same 2b. but I do not know .... I play with the second prize.
when I put Project CARS gives me 1.175 bios 81. and voltages 1.199 bios 2b untouched with absolutely no value. EVGA Precision in 2 graphics to 1380 Mhz.

unfortunately i too have the freaking problems. its an expensive card and it would be a shame if i cant oc it.
i have the same bios as u. to make matters worst, my fan is noisy even in low speed. it has rattling noise.

Sorry for necro post, especially as first post here, first off, thanks to the OP for posting the stock rom, I was an idiot and flashed 2b from my other card without thinking, and my drive I stored my rom on crashed at the same time... Not good!

Anyway, I'm another of those that has both 2b and 81, in the UK.

Has there been any development on either cooking a rom or Asus allowing RMA on these cards?

Thanks!

Hi Duncan!

Sadly, I had to give up. I gave back the Strix (thanks Amazon for not asking questions) and bought an EVGA Classified. Great card, overclocks easily to 1500+ without touching voltages and fan speeds, I don't even need to push it to its limits. I gave up because of a simple reason: Asus ignored me. They e-mailed me like 3 months ago saying they would work on the issue and then they disappeared. They're never gonna recognize this as a real problem cause the cards work ok at the advertised clocks. I have not the ability to unlock a .81 bios as it is deeply different from a normal one and I have no time to learn from zero, not for only one card. I'm still interested in the issue tho, I may buy back another strix in the future just for reverse engineering. Keep me updated!
