[Dualshockers] Sony Executive Weighs in on the Possibility of a future release of a PS4 with Improved Performance. - Page 3

so Sony may implement the same thing the 3ds went through when the "New" 3ds was released(essentially a 3ds with a processor which could load games faster, currently play 1 exclusive title and better hardware on other fronts(e.g better camera tracking))

No thank you, I have a $1000 5.1 system for a reason.

If all of that doesn't help or it's in a very tight spot then look into some USB fans to place around it somewhere.

I shouldn't have to ghetto my console. It is on a open table with noting to keep the heat in. My Xbox One is on a shelf on the other hand, and doesn't make a sound.

Clearly Sony undersized the heatsink on the PS4.

The fan noise wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have an annoying tone to it. The Forced air sound of the blower is what kills it.

Sure it may be fixed with the future PS4 Slim, but really shouldn't have been this bad in the first place. Granted it is nothing like the original 360.

I am more likely to buy an NX than a more powerful PS4.

It would be a disgrace to all people who bought a PS4. If they do it then I expect them to do a trade in where you can trade your old PS4 + X amount of $$$ for the new PS4.

I'd rather have them invest the time and money into good games, because that is what I am missing with my PS4. Good innovative games that are not sequels or remastered.

Then how can you hear Fan Noise from a PS4 sir? ... Headphones don't let noise in haha. I would love to have a 5.1 system, but I got sick of multiple speaker setups back in 2006 lol. Headphones are pretty advanced these days and with the right setup can actually sound better than 5 physical speakers. Still not hating on your sound system and I'm sure you love it and its really loud smile.gif

Yeah, They would have to retain the same API and architecture but just allow nicer things like HDMI 2.0, 3x3 Wifi, Higher Res, AA/AF. It could also serve as the launch platform for UltraHD Bluray

This wouldn't happen though, they have a performance advantage over XB1 and I doubt the NX will pose any serious threat to their marketshare. as others have mentioned, this will be the PS5

I don't think your PS4 is going to do anything about it. Just saying there are ways to keep it cooler. A little airflow goes a long way with this stuff. They have purpose made devices for this.

I don't see this as something beyond possibility. They could easily have games run at higher resolution and faster frame rate on the newer version. PC developers have been programming for multiple hardware configurations for years, adding one more to the mix for a console wouldn't exactly be difficult.
Ugh, I got the source name and subject mixed up.

We REALLY need a PS4 controller with buttons on the bottom, I think it's pretty well established now that competitive play needs more than four buttons while actively using the two sticks.

On the topic of this thread: They should just go for it. The sooner we get rid of this console cycle silliness that has plagued the industry to this point the better off everyone will be. Nothing will be made incompatible within a generation, just people with the latest hardware will have a boost.
And then Console gamers will get to look at pages and pages of benchmark graphs too!
Obviously developers would have to design games to run on the specs of the original PS4, with possible exceptions in the future of coding games to take advantage of the newer PS4 with improved specs (like higher internal resolution, more AA and such). But really all the improved PS4 would be is a PS4 with a faster CPU, improved GPU, and possibly faster/more ram. It would improve performance on already existing games and give the option for higher settings on newer games. I don't think it would bother early adopters, we in the PC community have been used to this for as long as the PC has existed.
