OC Booted at 5.0 GHZ, Unstable @ Stock with P95, Vishera 8350, Sabertooth 990 FX R.2 - Page 3

having two fans in a push pull on the evo only helps by like 1c its the same set up i had. prime 95 will fail on fx at stock sometimes let alone overclocked.getting 4.5 on a evo is pushing it to its max but you should be able to get 4.4ghz. getting 4.2 is easy.

the fx recommends 72c at max but normally doesnt shut off until like 80 something.

you should be able to get 4.4-4.5 stable on something like intel burn test 10 pass standard test.

also vrm temps being high can crash it, i put extra fans on mine

Max safe temp is like 62 as far as I know. Also, The Stilt has posted VRM safety ranges. It's not just the temperature, it's the amount of current going through them at a certain temp.

If it's not Prime stable then it's not stable.

70C is maximum safe sustainable temp on a Vishera Processor. 85C is the thermal protection shutdown point.

You can get away from prime with extra GHZ
Using amd over drive or anything that can occupy 7out of 8 cores you have
Should be exremly stable if it can run for a whole night

Also you probaly want to check if your looking at core temps?
Shuttting down at 59C seems odd

Better cooling, If you want to get over 4.2. good (very good!) water cooling to get to 5.0. Heat load rises exponential with CPU clock (and all the other things you have to do to overclock). Going from 4.9 to 5.0 produces massive amounts of extra heat.

no they don't shut down at 62. Not to be rude. Do you even own one? Doesn't seem like you do. If the CPU shut down when it hit 62C then a lot of us overclocked would have a problem because we often push core temperatures in excess of 65 or even 72C for short bench runs. Not to exclude the socket temp which we also push in excess of 70C sometimes.

Maximum sustainable temp is 70c. Shutdown is 85. I have owned 3 Vishera chips. I know.
