Non 5.25in Fan controllers?

Thread Starter
I was planning on downsizing to either mitx or matx, and I'm mainly looking at cases that dont have any 5.25in bays. I still want to be able to control the case fans though, was wondering if anyone here had suggestions on how to go about doing that without a 5.25in slot for a standard fan controller.

Thanks for any help guys!

So get a 3.5" controller, or a PCI controller, or a knob controller, there are a lot of options. Just go to any site, say, performancepcs.com, and search for fan controllers and you will see all your options. Or tell us what specifically you have and I can be more specific.

the question is do you actually want to HAVE a controller? or just a fan hub that controls the fans using the PWM signal from your mobo?

I have had -- still have, actually -- some single channel fan controllers. They're good up to 7 Watts. The fit into the backplane were PCIE stuff goes. Also, there are a bunch of 3.5-inch controllers on Newegg.

As asked, do you really what to manually control your fans .. or would be me more logical to use motherboard fan headers and software that sets fan speed curve in Bios? This makes it easy to access and adjust fan speed without having to worry about changing fan speeds manually.

You could opt for something like the NZXT Grid+ or Corsair Commander, both of which are essentially internal fan hubs but with the ability to control several fans via software.

Or just get PWM fans and use them with your mobo headers and bios to automatically adjust their speed. Really depends on how many fans you need and how many PWM headers you have though.
