but i'd rather they make a 50% discount for pre-ordered games, THAT would make pre-ordering worth it.

If it is added value while maintaining normal payment is free. You can look at it as a discount if it makes you feel better, but in my day, they called that a freebie.

As for your quote, personally, I don't know any business that would be as silly as to ever consider such idiocy or how anyone can realistically consider that "worth it". Companies don't owe you anything for offering a pre-order service.

As good an idea as that is (even 5% would be nice), its never going to happen. The whole point of pre-orders is to dupe people into spending full retail price.

I can print a posters of comparable quality, I don't need cheap figures, and I can wait the extra week or two for DLC. Where's the value? Put it into a real discount instead of gimmicks.

Again, the publisher/studio/developer does not owe you ANYTHING for a pre-order service. The value is how much the convenience ordering it in advance and playing it as soon as it is released means to you and/or if there is a freebie involved, how much that means to you. How much that value means to each person is subjective.

You do get a discount if you order it from the correct sites. Just bought Fallout 4 for $46 on GreenManGaming. That's the kind of prices I like paying for AAA new releases.

Won't always get all the pre-order bonuses, but, I like money more then bs cosmetic items or early game ruining twink gear.

As for season passes, I only buy DLC if I plan on playing it. Usually I'm lucky to beat a game let alone play the DLC.

The only issue I see for some with Green Man is you don't have the option to refund. So, if it's something you buy and end up hating then kind of stuck with it. Not an issue for me since I know I'll like the game.

You don't have to pay for anything else to get it.

Retail cost of a game is $60.
Your $1 pre-order is taken from the $60.
You now owe: $59.00

Pre-ordering a game is simply making a place-holder and "providing support" for that company.

If you don't want it, you simply cancel your FREE pre-order before launch and you don't pay for it.

...No. Your last point makes about as much economic sense as you giving me a million dollars for stepping on your foot.

Really now?

If I support EA games and buy BF6, there is no "dupe". The pre-order was still free. I spent my "dollar" as an informed consumer.

So can I. I actually giclee mine, doesn't change the fact that they're not the original. They're not a pip-boy that's now going for $450 instantly on Ebay...Same thing with the Halo 5 Statue...

The value is, as always, in the eye of the beholder.

It's not for us to pass judgement based on anothers' tastes.

GMG is also super shady and doesn't buy from US vendors...So...That's also an issue...You know, that no US vendor sells to them and they refuse to validate their sources...So, they're literally buying product en-masse from 3rd world nations and flipping it...Yeah, they're not getting my $, ever.

If there is something I am passionate about enough to spend full price buying it, why shouldn't I? Why should anyone withhold pre-ordering something they really want?

GMG is a cheaper alternative because of how they buy the product.

Video games are sold to distributors. Distributors distribute to vendors. Vendors sell.

GMG is not a licensed vendor.

GMG refuses to actually identify their sources and NO US distributor supplies GMG with serial #'s.

Sites like GMG, literally buy product from Ukraine and flip it because they're spending $30 per as opposed to $50 per unit.

Thus your $45 is actually supporting a very shady business practice and funding them to further such shadiness.

So yes, the cheaper alternative is bad because it's super freaking shady.

That's not shady, that's business.
