Only the last 3 generations of nVidia GPU's are 50, the AMD GCN cards are 44. This makes total of 94 cards. And the possible combinations is OVER 4000 (duh, wanted 9k). Although the plausible combinations are probably around 50% of this, its still A LOT.

Both manufacturers got few times drivers out for AotS. AMD got increase of 5%, nVidia of 8% from drivers only.

Can we implement this at an OS level? Perhaps microsoft could create a driver that unifies both GPUs into 1 so games dont need additional coding to make it work.

You could even customize it and name your GPU beast:thumb:

We most likely won't see this unlinked EMA AFR in any game because it's only good for different vendor GPU with about the same power. But it's still interesting. I'm looking forward to tech demos with unlinked EMA using SFR or something similar. That should use dGPU with iGPU/APU or GPUs of different powers and vendors.

Found it. I remember this because I was trying to put an old 9800gt to run PhysX with my 7970. Until I got the hacked drivers, my system wasn't having it at all.
If i was AMD, i would have sued nVidia for bad marketing practices and on-purpose performance and quality reduction. Is this still a thing and present in the current drivers ? From what i know, it was indeed possible to do this, but haven't head someone still do it with such high-end GPUs around.

This is neat tech, but I don't see it taking off. Additionally I can't see much of a use for it. For example, you likely won't be able to run PhysX in this configuration, and FreeSync won't work for, well, a ton of reasons. Now, if this can be used with, say, Intel integrated graphics and discrete Nvidia (or, less likely, AMD) graphics in a laptop, that's pretty cool. Hopefully this will also make it easier for AMD to implement proper dual graphics drivers. I toyed with the idea of getting an R7 250 to go with my 7870K but decided against it. Crossfire was never a good experience for me and the frame stutter is a bit of an issue.

I completely disagree. My last card was CF'd 290's. I now run a 980ti. Point being is that I can add a new card in with my current card installed. I'm a flip-flopper when it comes to GPU's and I say this will be extremely handy if this takes off. What ever card I buy next year, if this tech takes off, I can just add it to my 980ti. That's awesome!!!

I can't wait to see how my 580, 580, 680, R9 290 4-way mSLI will do!!!! biggrin.gif (kidding of course........kinda)

No need to do that. Oxide implements the functionality for their engine, Nitrous. Once it is in there (and coded in a clever way), it will just need updating from time to time.
So I imagine that as soon as other big names like Unreal start incorporating this functionality in their engines, more games will be able to tap into that resource without needing to reinvent the wheel.

So what are the numbers for a Fury X + 980Ti as compared to Fury X + Fury X or 980Ti + 980Ti?

To me, that is all that matters.

While the idea of having BOTH an AMD and nVidia card in the same box is "cute", I don't see the real advantage.

Who will Crossfire/SLI work? Will it only be as good as the worst driver? What if one card has a profile for game x, but the other card doesn't? How will Crossfire perform in non-Full Screen mode? (Crossfire DOESN'T work, but SLI does a little, so what will happen?)

But to me, the biggest point is ... who is really going to go out and get a G-Sync AND FreeSync monitor? I mean I do, but only because I'm insane, but I really don't see people buying one of each. Then there is the whole issue of how G-Sync/FreeSync performs in a dual manufacturer card situation.

I'm sorry, I just don't see an advantage of doing this as opposed to picking a side and getting 2 cards.

Again, I disagree. I realize this is OCN, so people want TOP RESULTS. For someone like me however; saving a few bucks by using a mixed GPU system is greatly appealing. If I can get around 75% of the performance of a homogeneous with a mixed GPU system, it's well worth the savings in $$$. I don't have to buy cards in "sets" anymore, I can just rotate out my oldest card every year or so. That's a powerful ability to get great performance on a more reasonable budget.

Of course, this would have to be implemented by a good size portion of devs. That's the only issue I see.
