if it's anything like a PS3 fat then I can totally understand, that thing kicks off like a jet turbine even in the game menu during the summer.

My PS4 is much louder than my 290X rig and I have a more aggressive fan profile and overclocked the card. Especially when playing TLOU or Bloodborne. I have my PS4 on my desk where I sit though. When the PS4 is 3 metres away from you next to the television and you are on the couch then it is probably less of a problem.

It is actually a common complaint (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1075088)

There is a new PS4 model with 1TB and improved hardware that consumes less power and is quieter though. Don't remember the correct model number on top of my head though. So if someone buys a PS4 make sure to buy that one. It is not ALL 1TB versions though keep that in mind!

Well they should repair their ps4 since mine is dead silent. maybe if you use physical games, the blue ray rom may do some noise (which I don't since where I live digital games are cheaper). But on Pc if people would still play with physical copies (whicj 95% of pc gamers don't) they would probably face the same problem.

My Pc with it's OCz psu and gtx 960 makes a lot of noise when gaming. When not it's really quiet but when gaming it's a mess.

He is right you know.

Even a reference GTX 960 (the loudest one of them all) is less noisy than a PS4. ( http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/68697-nvidia-gtx-960-reference-review-4.html )

Acoustical Testing

What you see below are the baseline idle dB(A) results attained for a relatively quiet open-case system (specs are in the Methodology section) sans GPU along with the attained results for each individual card in idle and load scenarios. The meter we use has been calibrated and is placed at seated ear-level exactly 12” away from the GPU’s fan. For the load scenarios, Hitman Absolution is used in order to generate a constant load on the GPU(s) over the course of 15 minutes.

Either you live in an oven, or something is broken. The GTX 960 fans should be off until it gets to 70c (unless you changed the settings), then the fan should run at 30-35% and even then it should near dead silent.

You mean my minimum standards of a game should be of that from 2010, is that too unrealistic/asking too much?

Characters are different, GT4 is one of the few PS2 games that still could be regarded as good looking without taking its age into account, it had the PS2 running at 1080i for gods sake...And I'd much rather have a PS2 model and my favourite car than nothing at all, especially when you consider the time taken to make or heavily update a model...That was my main complaint about Forza 5. The bigger issue is counting 5-10 different paintjobs of the same car as different cars.

I have to disagree with the bolded part though. Just because Batman Arkham Knight is a recent example of "low optimization" it doesn't mean that "a lot" of games are badly optimized. Basically all games, save for the occasional 1-2 bad ports a year, run very well on PC and even on lower hardware with mid-high settings. Also look at games like AC Unity and Witcher 3. They suffered from bad optimization on PS4. Considering there are like 5000 new PC games each year and only 30-40 new PS4 games the percetange ratio is much higher on a badly optimized PS4 game.

One important thing is that PC gamers and Console gamers do have a different standard of quality. If a console game runs at 900p 30fps with some drops to 25fps then console gamers don't care, but a game with 900p resolution on PC and 30fps with drops would be considered the absolute worst.

For example Bloodborne. It looks great on PS4 and I enjoyed playing it, but you can't turn off the chromatic abberation and the framerate is 30ish ~ wiith bad frame pacing. People don't mention that because they can't change it anyways. If Bloodborne came to PC with no options, bad frame pacing and 30fps then people would heavily critize it and write it off as a very bad PC port.

I have come to terms with it on PS4 that I can't change a thing. If a game has motion blur then I can't turn it off. If a game has low FoV then I can't change it.
Sony could give us backwards compatability, but they don't.

For me personally the PS4 is a huge disappointment. It may change down the road once we get FFVIII remake (probably on PC aswell), Shenmue III (on PC aswell), Kingdom Hearts 3, The Last of Us 2, Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy XV, Persona 5, The Last Guardian etc.
Sony said they didn't expect the PS4 to be so successful. If they had anticipated such a success they probably would've invested in more games to have a better transistion throughout the PS4 lifecycle.

I am not saying everything about the PS4 is bad. I love how the PS4 looks and the controller is amazing too

He's probably thinking of the few games that just perform like crap in general, even on console (eg. GTA IV) but because they have the fixed hardware and a set FPS to hit, it was hidden much more nicely.

My issue with the standard cars is that they could've gotten away with less detailed premium cars (though still amazing) and spent the time to do all the standard cars at that detail level. Then all the cars would be homogeneous and there wouldn't be this absurd split between standard and premium cars. In 2016 (or whenever this game launches) there is simply no excuse for a car in any racing game to not feature full interiors and a beautifully rendered exterior. I want all the cars from GT5; just all of them at the same (high) quality level. They spend 25 years making each game anyway, might as well get something out of having to wait so long for them...

They did Thai in gt6 to many cars and the term "semi premium" was coined.

Many of the standard cars had their external visuals updated to something more high resolution.
