Build an identical PC in terms of raw power. You still can't match the price and you still have the overhead of Windows.

EDIT: InB4 someone tries to use a 750Ti (which is still less powerful than a PS4 gpu) and the most notoriously poorly-coded multiplats as an example

Sigh....its been done before.

Used parts? Couldn't one argue that you can also get a used PS4 for less money wink.gif

True, it would be cheaper than the $399.99 price tag:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_nkw=ps4&_dcat=139971&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=3000&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

but at least i'd be able to run at 1080p and often pass the 60fps mark.

For me the current exclusives on the xb1 were more compelling. Sunset overdrive, halo series, gears of war series, forza series (forza horizions 2 is great), along with the superior controller (better build quality and better analog sticks and placement. My ps4 controllers had their analog top coating rip apart already. Plus triggers not only feel better, they vibrate). Also is super easy to upgrade hdd size via usb. Xbl for me is only 30 bucks a year with g2a. So far easily the best console on the market, even have destiny for it. My ps4 just sits collecting dust atm, but glad I will finally have games to play on it soon.

Perhaps, depending on the settings and games of course. I wonder if that build includes a valid copy of Windows?

Anyway, I'm not sure I understand the point of these builds. For many of us here at OCN it may make sense, but to the average Joe I guarantee they will pick up the PS4 over having to build a system such as this. And I understand and respect their choice thumb.gif For many it's not necessarily about being able to play at higher frame rates or resolution. At the end of the day the games are practically the same, and the games are what really matters. Hell I haven't played on my rig for months, too busy catching up on my 360 backlog biggrin.gif

I don't think similarly priced hardware on the PC side will be able to pull off visual fidelity like we see here.

Probably because no one is giving a developer $200 million (rumoured budget for Detroit: Become Human) to develop a game specifically for low end - mid range PCs. The closest PC does have is Star Citizen, and that's mostly being optimized for high end hardware like the i7 and GTX 980.

Another close game is GTA V. I can run that at similar graphics settings to a PS4 on Mashed Potato (my sig rig) at 22 fps average, 15 fps min, 38 max. Not far off the PS4s 29 fps average, 25 fps min, 30 fps max (based on DigitalFoundrys results)

That's basically the nature of PC gaming, always has been and maybe always will. That doesn't invalidate the fact that low end PC hardware will not be able to achieve what a PS4 can, not only for budget reasons as you pointed out but for optimization reasons as well. (That may or may not change with DX12, we will see)

Thread Starter
Guys please. Every PS4 thread does not need to be a you can build a cheaper PC thread...

If anyone has nothing to say about the game, they can feel free to start their own thread on another subforum and tell us about cheaper PC options...

If anybody truly and utterly hates PS4 or Xbone, they have every right to rant in another thread.

Back on topic. This is a unique game. I was bored of Heavy Rain but mainly because I thought it was something else. I never played it more than 2 hours however I will buy the remaster and try the game once again.

Then the argument is more a software/programming argument than the physical hardware's capabilities. Could lower end PC's run the game? yes, but the amount of effort and financial return for coding a multiplatform to run on both pc and ps4 is what keeps dev's/publishers from doing so.

In either case, I may watch a buddy play this at his house, he loves Quantic Dream games, and I did enjoy Beyond 2 souls on my PS3.

Like I said, it's a combination of budget and optimization reasons, most likely much more the latter as there are no baseline 'low/mid/high" standards to aim for and therefore optimization will suffer as a result.
